Bungee jumper posted 7:31 before fatal plunge in Brazil

Brazilian bungee jumper Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas posted a chilling Instagram Story showing 7:31 minutes before she died after workers allegedly forgot to attach her safety rope on the São Paulo bridge.

Minutes after Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas sent her last message on Instagram Stories, she was gone.

The 21-year-old bungee jumper posted a timestamp from a clock showing 7:31 as she stood on a bridge in São Paulo. In the caption of a photo taken on the Skeleton Bridge in Limeira, she wrote in Portuguese: “Who was the crazy person who let me jump off a bridge???”

The post carried the question of someone trying to make sense of the jump moments before it became irreversible.

Maria had signed up for what was supposed to be an adrenaline-filled adventure at the Ponte do Esqueleto. A video now circulating on social media shows workers at the bungee jumping company appearing to throw the student off the bridge—before they seem to realize that they allegedly forgot to attach her safety rope.

She then plummeted 131 feet to the ground. After first responders arrived, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

For many watching the viral clip, the timeline is what refuses to let go: a timestamp of 7:31, a wide-eyed caption, and then the fall minutes later. The story has left a sharp, painful question hanging in the air—how could something meant to be controlled turn fatal in a moment meant for thrill?

Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas’s last post is now being shared widely, not just as a record of what she did, but as the final beat before the tragedy. Her loved ones are left to hold the unanswered timing of a jump that ended in death.
