With ‘Nimrods’, Green Day recalls early touring days — and haircuts
Green Day reminisces on early days of becoming a band after making the Green Day-inspired film “Nimrods.”
Rock band Buckcherry said its tour bus was one of multiple vehicles involved in a fatal accident in South Carolina on Aug. 21, just ahead of the band’s weekend concert shows.
A person was hit and killed by a Toyota sedan traveling east on Interstate 26 in Spartanburg County early Friday on Aug. 21, according to local South Carolina television station WSPA-TV. TV station WYFF reported that the crash occurred at mile marker 31 at about 2 a.m.
South Carolina Highway Patrol said a pedestrian had just been involved in a crash in the area, WYFF reported. After exiting the car, the person was struck in the roadway.
Troopers said the person died at the scene, according to WYFF. The person’s identity has not been released.
The rock band released a statement on Facebook hours after the incident, informing fans that its tour bus had been involved in a “multi-vehicle accident” in the same region.
“We are extremely grateful to report that all members of Buckcherry and our touring crew are safe and unharmed,” the band wrote. “Tragically, authorities have confirmed that the collision that occurred ahead of our bus resulted in a fatality. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life.”
USA TODAY reached out to a Buckcherry representative and the South Carolina Highway Patrol for comment and clarification regarding the crash.
At the time of the accident, the band had been on the road as part of its nationwide Roar Like Thunder Tour. The rockers proceeded with their concert dates, which included stops in Florida on Aug. 22 at the Culture Room and on Aug. 23 at the Key West Theater.
Who is Buckcherry?
Buckcherry is an American rock band that formed in Anaheim, California, in 1995. The group — whose current lineup includes lead vocalist Josh Todd, guitarists Stevie D. and Billy Rowe, bassist Kelly LeMieux and drummer Francis Ruiz — is best known for its gritty, punk-infused hard rock sound.
They scored several hits throughout the late 1990s and late 2000s, including “Crazy B—h,” “Lit Up” and “Crazy.” The two-time Grammy-nominated quartet released its 11th studio album, “Roar Like Thunder,” in 2025.
Fans can expect to see the rockers continue their jaunt in the United States with dates lined up for Nevada, Michigan, and Texas. Buckcherry’s final stop will be at the Y2K-themed Dial Up Festival in Fort Worth, Texas, on Dec. 12.
