The show effectively began and ended with BTS: they provided the opening performance, which was pre-taped at one of their Allegiant Stadium shows earlier this past week.
The group’s momentum didn’t slow down after that first moment. BTS won Artist of the Year and then followed it by taking every category they were nominated in this year. They also earned Song of the Summer for their single “Swim” and Best Male K-Pop Artist.
Alongside accepting two awards during the live telecast, BTS also presented an award to another artist — a spotlight that extended beyond their own wins.
The 2026 AMAs are airing live on CBS. Queen Latifah is hosting the show, returning as host after more than 30 years since she previously held the role. The night also comes with a major nominations front-runner: the nominations list is led by Taylor Swift with 8 nods.
