Police hunt suspect after assault reported in LaBagh Woods

man sought – Police are searching for a man suspected of sexually assaulting a 29-year-old woman Saturday afternoon in LaBagh Woods, a heavily wooded preserve on Chicago’s far Northwest Side. The victim was taken to Swedish Hospital and has since been released.

A woman walking in LaBagh Woods Saturday afternoon was attacked in a wooded area just off a trail, and now police want the public’s help to find the man suspected of assaulting her.

The alleged sexual assault happened at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday in a heavily wooded area on the eastern side of the preserve. roughly 500 feet from the parking lot. Forest Preserves of Cook County Police said. The victim, a 29-year-old woman, was taken to Swedish Hospital and has since been released, police said.

Investigators described a suspect who they believe can be identified by a distinct appearance. The man is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall, with a long brown-and-blond beard reaching to his chest. Police said he was wearing a dark shirt. a black beanie hat. dark sunglasses. and a zip-up black jacket with a red stripe on the shoulder.

Since the incident, Forest Preserves Police, Chicago police, and the Cook County sheriff’s office have been canvassing the area. Police said heightened attention has been placed on LaBagh Woods, including increased patrols of the preserve.

Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call 911.
