Brewers’ bats wake up as Harrison faces McDonald

Brewers vs – Milwaukee came alive with 16 runs in the first game of a four-game series and will try to keep rolling tonight. Kyle Harrison starts for the Brewers against Trevor McDonald, with lineup changes centering on Garrett Mitchell replacing Andrew Vaughn.
The Brewers didn’t just win last night — they finally looked like the offense that fans had been waiting for. After scoring only nine runs over the weekend, Milwaukee erupted for 16 against Landon Roupp and the San Francisco Giants in the first of a four-game series.
Tonight, the momentum shifts to the mound. Kyle Harrison will take the ball for Milwaukee. aiming to keep the run going after his own stretch of near-total control. His brilliance this season has been overshadowed by the firepower of his rotation-mate. Jacob Misiorowski. but Harrison actually leads the Brewers in ERA even after Misiorowski’s seven scoreless innings on Sunday.
Harrison’s numbers have been quietly eye-catching: in 10 games started this season, he has allowed just nine runs. He’s just short of “qualifying” for the ERA title. but if he did qualify. he would be third in the league — behind the Yankees’ Cam Schlittler (1.50) and Philadelphia’s Cristopher Sánchez (1.47).
There’s also the immediate streak that makes Milwaukee’s plan feel simple. Harrison hasn’t allowed a run in any of his last three outings, covering 18 innings. During that span, he has struck out 20 batters and walked only one.
The Giants counter with a different kind of profile on the mound: 25-year-old righty Trevor McDonald. It will be his sixth start of the year, and his ninth appearance in the majors. In 29 innings this season, McDonald has struck out 27 and walked only six. His 4.34 ERA doesn’t look sharp, but his FIP of 3.26 tells a more forgiving story.
McDonald’s control has looked better under a closer lens. While he has walked only nine batters in 47 major league innings, his minor league numbers suggest that could be a small-sample blur. Even in the last two years, he has walked 4.4 batters per nine when pitching with Triple-A Sacramento.
Milwaukee will mostly ride with the lineup that collected 18 hits last night. The key change is defensive-and-offensive reshuffling in the outfield and first base: Garrett Mitchell is in while Andrew Vaughn is out. Jake Bauers slides from left field to first base.
That keeps the outfield alignment as Jackson Chourio-Mitchell-Sal Frelick. For the second straight night, Luis Rengifo and David Hamilton make up the left side of the infield.
First pitch is set for 6:40, with Brewers TV and the Brewers Radio Network carrying the game.
The pairing tonight tells its own story through the numbers alone: Milwaukee is riding a sudden offensive burst and a starter who hasn’t allowed a run in 18 straight innings. while San Francisco hopes McDonald’s strikeout-and-walk profile — even with an ERA that doesn’t flatter him — can blunt the damage before the series tilts further.

So Harrison is basically a superhero now? lol
I saw 16 runs and thought it was over already. But then it says tonight is a pitching thing… I get it kinda? Garrett Mitchell replacing Andrew Vaughn sounds like a random swap.
Misiorowski had seven scoreless and still Harrison is leading in ERA? That’s weird like the stats are conflicting. Also “near-total control” like he won’t even allow a hit? I’m just assuming it’s gonna be another blowout.
Brewers offense waking up finally… about time. Last weekend was rough and now it’s 16 like the bats got possessed. Harrison last 3 outings no runs?? I don’t even trust baseball numbers anymore tho, yesterday’s game means nothing sometimes.
