The “Brenaissance” continues. Oscar-winner Brendan Fraser added to his recent list of top-tier performances with one of the best WWII movies of the decade so far, in the form of Pressure. Also starring Andrew Scott,Chris Messina, Damian Lewis,Tamsin Topoloski, and Kerry Condon, Pressure once again showcases the best of Fraser’s revived career following an almost decade-long absence from major leading roles on the big screen.
Pressure is just one of several impressive performances from Fraser since his Oscar-winning turn in The Whale, which includes the comedy-drama gem Rental Family and a performance in Martin Scorsese‘s latest masterpiece, Killers of the Flower Moon. But all of these attention-grabbing performances felt like they were leading to the inevitable reprisal of Fraser’s most famous role as Rick O’Connell in a new installment of the cult classic The Mummy franchise. This was finally confirmed in May 2026, with Fraser fans rejoicing worldwide.
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the filmmaking duo known as Radio Silence, will bring the latest Mummy installment to life, with the release date scheduled for October 15, 2027, brought forward from its original date of May 19, 2028. Ahead of the franchise’s return, Fraser has just delivered the most exciting news yet in an interview available to watch below, as he told Canal+ that filming on The Mummy 4 began on Monday, September 7. “I have to be at work on Monday morning,” Fraser gladly announced, adding that he feels as though he is “see[ing] an old friend again” by starting production with a whole host of returning faces.
