Bosch’s Titus Welliver Returns to Crime Thrillers July 12

Titus Welliver is back on the hunt for his next case with J.K. Simmons in Amazon’s new 1970s-set crime thriller series, The Westies—coming to MGM+ on July 12, 2026.
For Titus Welliver, it’s a familiar kind of return—but not a familiar home. After building a career around playing Harry Bosch across three different series, Welliver is stepping into his next crime thriller role with a new partner by his side.
The upcoming MGM+ series The Westies is set for release on July 12, 2026, with Welliver leading alongside Oscar-winning star J.K. Simmons. Their show, which is in the works at Amazon, will not stream on Prime Video.
Welliver’s track record as Bosch runs through Bosch. Bosch: Legacy. and Ballard. with the actor also recently appearing in the George R.R. Martin-produced supernatural Western Dark Winds. Dark Winds has already been renewed for Season 5. Now. the question is what he brings to a brand-new world where the stakes are high and the suspects don’t come in neat. solvable packages.
The Westies is set in Hell’s Kitchen in the 1980s and centers on the Westies crime gang’s attempt to turn profits from Javitz Center construction. Though the gang is vastly outnumbered by the Italian mafia, their brutality earns them a share. As tensions sharpen, generational conflict grows while FBI probes deepen.
On screen, Simmons takes on the role of Eamon Sweeney. One of the first official images for The Westies was released during an Exclusive Preview Week earlier in the year. showing Simmons as Eamon Sweeney. The series was written and created for TV by Chris Brancato and Michael Panes—creators of Narcos and Narcos: Mexico for Netflix.
Welliver will be joined in the cast by Hamish Allan-Headley, a Daredevil: Born Again veteran. Additional cast members announced for The Westies include Will Jeffs as Logan, Rohan Mead as Sean Flynn, Maria Dinn as Mary, and Andrea Gallo as Gloria.
The pairing of Welliver and Simmons adds extra heat to a story already primed for conflict: Hell’s Kitchen criminals chasing a cut from construction money. an overpowering mafia presence. and FBI pressure tightening over time. And with Brancato and Panes behind the writing. the project carries the momentum of major crime-thriller pedigree—built for viewers who like their danger loud and their details sharp.
The Westies will arrive on MGM+ on July 12, 2026. MGM+ also lists other series including Robin Hood and From as part of the platform’s lineup, as attention grows for what could be a breakout moment for the streamer in 2026.
Whether Welliver’s next case scratches the same itch as Harry Bosch—or pushes him into a darker, messier lane—will be clear soon. For now, the gang’s hunt for profit, the mafia’s leverage, and the FBI’s relentless focus are all queued up for the premiere date.
