Bills keep O.J. Simpson off new stadium Wall of Fame

Bills keep – The Buffalo Bills say O.J. Simpson will not be included in the Wall of Fame display at the team’s new stadium, citing an organizational decision about what fits the venue’s family-focused setting.

O.J. Simpson won’t be part of the display when the Buffalo Bills open the doors of their new stadium. The decision is already set: the Hall of Fame running back, the first inductee in the franchise’s Wall of Fame, will not be included inside the new venue.

Buffalo’s COO Pete Guelli said the team has made an organizational choice that Simpson is not “a fit to display inside our new stadium and Family Circle.” That Family Circle is planned as a plaza outside the stadium entrance. where plaques will honor the Wall of Fame members—31 of them at present. with the number described as “soon. 30.”.

Simpson’s place in Bills history was never the issue. He was the first member of the Wall of Fame when it began in 1980. and the league recognized him as one of its elite performers. Simpson was a five-time first-team All-Pro and the NFL’s MVP in 1973 after rushing for 2,003 yards in 14 regular-season games. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985, where his bust remains on permanent display.

The Bills’ decision comes after Simpson died in 2024. Earlier in his public life, he was acquitted of double murder, and he was later found liable in civil court for wrongful death.

The new stadium plans put the Wall of Fame in a more tightly defined setting. The Bills’ choice to leave Simpson out of the internal display—while keeping the franchise’s all-time plaques in the broader plaza area—turns a long-standing piece of franchise recognition into a different message at the team’s next home.

  1. Family circle my ass… dude was a Bills legend. I don’t care what happened later, 1973 was insane. Feels like virtue signaling.

  2. Wait I thought they were doing the Wall of Fame inside? Now it’s outside? That wording is confusing lol. If it’s just plaques outside the stadium then why not include him, unless they think the whole building is like “kid safe”??

  3. I don’t even get it. They keep the franchise plaques in the plaza but not “inside,” like the crime doesn’t travel through the air?? Also wasn’t he on a bunch of stuff like the league already said no? Anyway, whole thing seems petty after he died.
