Bill Gates walked into Capitol Hill before 9 a.m. on June 10, facing a day built around one question: what, if anything, did his ties to Jeffrey Epstein involve.

The Microsoft cofounder was in front of members of the House Oversight Committee to answer questions connected to Epstein. Gates’s appearance follows a week of high-profile developments in which his name surfaced again through the Department of Justice files tied to Epstein. who died in 2019. He addressed reporters with a brief statement before heading into a closed-door, transcribed interview.

“I’m glad to be here voluntarily to testify to help with the committee’s work,” Gates said. He added, “I hope my testimony is helpful to the important work of the committee to find justice for the victims.”

The hearing comes as photos and mentions of Gates appeared several times in investigative files on Epstein. Gates previously acknowledged having several dinners with Epstein and said that, at the time, he believed Epstein was helping to fundraise for global health causes.

Outside the hearing room, Rep. James Comer, the committee chair, told reporters the committee’s focus would extend beyond past dinners. Comer said he is aiming to ask Gates about his involvement with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

“Hopefully this interview today will be productive and help us learn more and help us in our investigation as we move forward,” Comer said.

Comer also said he expects the committee will call for additional interviews tied to Epstein’s closest circle, including Epstein’s former lawyer, Alan Dershowitz.

“We will have questions for him,” Comer said. “We’re going to give him an opportunity to come in and answer several questions.”

This interview is part of a broader wave of high-profile congressional engagement following the arrests of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Pete Mandelson. with Hillary and Bill Clinton now testifying to Congress. Gates’s appearance is the latest prominent figure mentioned in the Epstein materials to come before lawmakers.

  1. I don’t even know what to think anymore. Like he said it was for fundraising? But Epstein was basically a whole scandal factory. How convenient that he’s “volunteering” 🙄

  2. Closed-door doesn’t mean anything tbh. If he was innocent why not public? Also Dershowitz being mentioned makes me think they already picked who to blame. Idk I just feel like this is gonna be another nothingburger.

  3. Wait I thought Epstein died already? So what are they trying to do, like rewind time? And Bill Gates was hanging out with him for global health stuff… that’s what he claims. Sounds like PR language to me. I’m sure the victims are happy to hear an apology though.
