Big Brother’s Season 28 ends Global run next

Global has announced Season 28 of Big Brother will be the last season of the series to air on the network. The season premieres Thursday, July 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, with Big Brother: Unlocked following Friday, July 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and a 90-minute Sunday episod

On the night Big Brother returns to Global, it will also carry an ending.

Global announced Tuesday that Season 28 will be the last season of the hit reality competition series to air on the network. The decision lands right as fans are about to settle back into familiar routines: a new cast under one roof. daily tension behind closed doors. and the countdown to live evictions.

Season 28 premieres Thursday, July 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Global and STACKTV. The next day, Friday, July 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, Big Brother: Unlocked returns. A 90-minute Sunday episode follows on July 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, also on Global and STACKTV.

“We are incredibly proud to have been the Canadian home of Big Brother since its launch in 2000, bringing this series to audiences nationwide,” said Jennifer Abrams, senior vice-president, content and marketing, Corus Entertainment.

In her remarks, Abrams framed the move as more than a schedule change. “As we look ahead. we’ve made the decision to move on from the series and refresh Global’s summer lineup. ” she said. Global says it is pursuing “new programming opportunities” and aims to keep delivering “high-impact summer content. ” with an emphasis on “broad. mainstream hits and new formats designed to engage audiences across both linear and streaming.”.

After the premiere, Big Brother will also air on Wednesdays from 8-9:30 p.m., followed by hour-long shows on Thursdays featuring live evictions, and Sundays from 8-9 p.m. on Global and STACKTV.

Behind the network announcement is a bigger milestone for the franchise itself. Big Brother will debut its 1,000th episode during the new season, and CBS says the series is the first prime-time show to reach that number.

The reality competition is hosted by Julie Chen Moonves and brings a set of strangers together for a summer of secrets. showmances. twists and turns. and plenty of drama. The houseguests who will enter the Big Brother house on July 9 and compete for the US$750. 000 grand prize will be revealed later this summer.

Big Brother: Unlocked is set to deliver additional access from inside the house. The series will share exclusive footage, extended interviews, surprise guest appearances, and behind-the-scenes access. For the first time ever. Global says the show will feature a live studio audience. bringing fans directly into the action.

Packed with new segments and returning fan favourites, Big Brother: Unlocked breaks down gameplay, evaluates the competition, and shares insider perspectives, starting Friday, July 10 at 8 p.m. ET on Global and STACKTV.

Global’s plan is clear: the familiar summer format is still arriving on schedule, but the run on the network is set to end with Season 28—closing a chapter that began in 2000.

  1. Wait Thursday July 9?? I feel like they do this every year and then it comes back. Also “Unlocked” sounds like some spin-off nobody asked for.

  2. I think they’re canceling because it’s “too toxic” or something? Like the whole point was the drama and now they’re trying to go mainstream. The article says ending on the network but idk if that means the show is actually done, or just moving channels.

  3. Can’t believe Season 28 is the last one on Global. I swear they said that last season too. July 12 Sunday 8pm?? The schedule is so weird now and I’m probably gonna miss the live evictions anyway. Also “refresh Global’s summer lineup” sounds like they just got bored and replaced it with ads.
