Beyoncé Knowles Carter is donating $200,000 to support relief efforts for those impacted by the recent floods in Indiana through her BeyGood Foundation.
The foundation shared a post on its official Instagram account on Monday about the latest effort.
The caption read, “Today BeyGOOD Foundation, founded by Beyoncé, is announcing a donation of $200,000 to help with relief efforts in Indiana. The funds will go to City Life Center and Angel by Nature that’s on the ground aiding communities most affected following the record flooding caused by a derecho storm that destroyed infrastructure, leaving more than 1000 people unhoused. The fund will immediately support critical relief and recovery efforts in the neediest areas, including the city of Gary, providing food, household supplies, and other essential resources to individuals and families impacted by the flooding.”
The post ended with a call to action, telling its followers “If you’d like to help those impacted by the disaster in Indiana, please consider making a donation at beygood.org.”
Thousands of northwestern Indiana residents were left without electricity after a violent storm on Aug. 11. Local officials have taken to social media to voice their frustration over the restoration with some remaining without power.
The Indiana BeyGood donation comes after the singer announced she’d make a personal donation of $1 million to support relief efforts in Colombia after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake devastated cities around the country earlier this month.
Over 200 people were killed and thousands of homes were reportedly destroyed by a powerful earthquake that struck Colombia on Aug. 10. Beyoncé’s donated funds will help provide food and housing supplies to communities hit hardest by the earthquake, according to a press release from Parkwood Entertainment. The release also directed people looking for other ways to help to the websites of Food for the Poor and World Central Kitchen.
