Berlin seeks World Pride 2032 as London also circles

On Wednesday, the Berliner CSD e. V. association – the organization behind the annual CSD – released to the press its demands for this year’s CSD. The press release indicated that the organization would like to see Berlin host the World Pride parade in 2032. Together with the Lesbian and Gay City Festival and Folsom e.V., they are bidding to bring World Pride to Germany for the first time ever. One of the most important events in the world among the queer community, World Pride
has existed since 2000. This year, it takes place in Amsterdam. The Berliner CSD e. V., which calls for political and financial support for queer projects and institutions, believes holding World Pride in Berlin would “strengthen the sense of community and urban society, bring people together, and send strong signals for freedom, diversity, and democracy to society”. However, Berlin is not the only city which intends to submit a bid for the event’s organization; notably, London has also expressed interest in hosting it.
