Beats by Dre has updated the Solo Buds with a new colorway: consumers in the United States and Japan can pick up a pair of Solo Buds with bright orange earbuds from select retailers. In the U.S., the orange edition is a Best Buy retailer-exclusive. In Japan, shoppers can get the same orange option from 7‑Eleven starting July 4.
It’s a choice that will feel familiar to people who’ve seen other Beats models in the same blinding orange style. That colorway is already available on the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 and the Beats Powerbeats Fit, while the Solo Buds have previously been offered in a smaller set of more muted options.
For Solo Buds owners trying to match a collection, this adds another step. Fans of the safety-inspired color can now complete their lineup with the orange Solo Buds—just not through every channel. The retailer split is part of the brand’s pattern: Beats has already branched beyond Solo Buds’ earlier Matte Black. Storm Gray. and Transparent Red options. Arctic Purple has been exclusive to Apple and Target, while Ivory was available at Walmart.
The orange update is also a limited change in one clear sense: other than the color. the Beats Studio Buds are the same as the launch version. That package includes up to 18 hours of battery life from a single charge. four ear-tip sizes. and a very compact charging case that doesn’t have a built-in battery.
Pricing follows the same “where you buy decides the details” logic. Originally priced at $79.99, the Orange edition is $69.99 at Best Buy.

Why is it only at Best Buy? That’s so dumb. Like Japan gets 7-Eleven?? I don’t even have a 7-Eleven that close. Also $69.99 sounds like a sale that shouldn’t be exclusive.
Wait I thought Beats orange meant louder bass automatically? That’s what my cousin said lol. But it’s just color, right. Still kinda like it tho. Beats always doing “exclusive” nonsense like I can’t just order the normal one.
Apple should just sell the orange everywhere like normal people. This feels like a marketing trick, not an actual upgrade. If the Studio Buds are the same but this one is cheaper at Best Buy, then why did they even change the price? Beats is basically turning shopping into a scavenger hunt.
