For the third day of Electric Forest, the news landed like a sudden weight: police said a baby was found dead inside a portable restroom in the festival’s camping area, and investigators are still asking the public for help.
Michigan State Police said the body of a neonate—defined by the World Health Organization as a baby 28 days old or younger—was discovered by an employee of the restroom vending company during routine maintenance on Sunday. June 28. in the camping area of Electric Forest. the state’s largest music festival.
Troopers told the public that no arrests had been made as of Monday. June 29. and that the case remained under investigation. In a post on social media. troopers wrote. “If you were in the area and observed anything unusual. or if you have information that you believe may be relevant. we encourage you to come forward. ” adding. “We appreciate the public’s cooperation and ask that people avoid speculation on social media out of respect for the investigation and those affected.”.
Electric Forest also posted a statement on its own social media page. “Forest Family, it causes us so much pain to have to share this difficult news with you,” they said. “Michigan State Police continues to investigate this tragic event if you can assist in any way. HQ is heartbroken and knows that our Forest Family is as well.”.

Not trying to be insensitive but how does that even happen at a festival… Like who would leave a baby in there. I saw people already posting theories and it’s gross.
If they found the body during “routine maintenance” doesn’t that mean they were checking them anyway and could’ve noticed sooner? Idk. Also neonate like 28 days? So was it just recently born or older than they’re saying?
Electric Forest always seemed sketchy to me. Like all those porta potty lines and people getting messed up… I’m not saying I know anything but I feel like they’ll blame the wrong group. They said no arrests yet so people just gotta stop speculating but that’s hard when the internet already decided it’s “someone’s fault.” Hope they find whoever knows something.
