Ayaneo didn’t just reveal the Pocket Micro 2’s spec sheet—it also revealed what its remake fans have likely been waiting to calculate: the price.

The handheld, a follow-up to Ayaneo’s modern remake of the Game Boy Micro from 2024, will start at a $269 retail price. For that amount, buyers get the same 3.5-inch LCD display with a 960 x 640 resolution that first appeared on the original Pocket Micro.

What justifies the bump is the hardware Ayaneo changed under the hood. The Pocket Micro 2 swaps in a new Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm “for better performance. ” and it also increases battery capacity to 3. 950mAh. The controls were reworked for comfort too: a larger D-pad. bigger ABXY buttons. improved shoulder buttons. and recessed dual TMR joysticks aimed at better ergonomics while helping prevent stick drift.

Ayaneo kept the Pocket Micro’s core setup—USB-C, a microSD card slot, and WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity—then leaned harder into the retro vibe with one notable add-on: a 3.5mm headphone jack. It’s the kind of detail that turns “inspired by” into “built to feel like.”

Pricing comes in a few tiers. With early bird pricing. the model with 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage costs $239. before it rises to the normal $269. A more premium option is also planned: a variant with 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage. starting at a launch price of $309 before moving up to its retail price of $339.

Pre-orders for the Pocket Micro 2—available in black. white. and purple—opened yesterday in “limited quantities on a first-come. first served basis.” The store page already shows the newest handheld is sold out. That gap between pricing and availability is where the anxiety sits for buyers who move fast—and then wait.

In its Discord. Ayaneo said it’s “currently discussing with our suppliers to see if additional production can be arranged.” The company added: “We’ll emulate the level of demand and determine whether it can meet the minimum order quantity requirements for another production run. We can’t promise that we’ll be able to make it happen, but we’ll do our best to explore every possibility.”.
