ATLANTA ― Allisha Gray exited the Atlanta Dream’s Monday, Aug. 3 game versus the Las Vegas Aces early.
Gray took a spill in the second quarter at the 1:13 mark, colliding with Jackie Young. Gray went up to block the Aces guard, but caught Young in mid-air. Amid the contact, Gray flipped head over heels and landed awkwardly on her head and neck area.
Gray remained down on the ground for several moments, writhing and rolling back and forth in pain. Her teammates immediately surrounded her, and the Dream staff was also at her side nearly instantly.
Gray eventually rose to her feet. The Dream guard walked off the court on her own power to the locker room. At the time of her early exit, Gray had had seven points in 15 minutes.
Minutes later, Gray emerged from the locker room. Despite being on the floor, she did not really take part in the team’s warm-ups before the second half. Still, Gray took the floor with her Atlanta teammates as the Aces held a 55-38 lead ahead of the third quarter.
Unfortunately, the spill with Young wasn’t the only contact Gray took. Gray was also on the receiving end of an elbow to the face from Young at the 9:12 mark of the third quarter. The Dream guard remained in the matchup.
Gray, who is a four-time WNBA All-Star, is in her fourth season with Atlanta. She is averaging 19.2 points per game, along with 3.1 rebounds and 1.5 steals.
