Despite the criticism, Kelce publicly defended his teammate at the time, describing him as a “great person,” even as he admitted he disagreed with almost every opinion Butker shared in the speech. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Reid also backed Butker when the backlash hit.
