Apple plans App Store bundles across different companies

Apple says App Store bundles and new subscription suites are coming later this year, letting iPhone users buy bundled offers that can cross company lines—something Apple is describing as similar to streaming bundles, but with a wider mix of services.

Later this year, buying subscriptions for iPhone apps could feel more like shopping for streaming. Apple says it’s expanding App Store bundles so bundled offers can include deals from different companies.

The idea is familiar in shape: Apple points to streaming video bundles that combine options like Apple TV and Peacock. But App Store bundles could go further—pairing subscriptions from completely different services. Apple’s examples include Instagram Plus and Tinder Platinum.

Another addition Apple plans to bring is Suites. Apple describes Suites as “a set of subscriptions that aren’t available standalone,” sold as a single subscription rather than separate add-ons.

The changes were announced during WWDC, alongside other App Store updates. Apple is also rolling out new guidelines about removing “opportunistic” apps that don’t get updated or don’t attract customers. On the Mac App Store side. Apple says it is dropping the requirement for apps to support Intel chips in older Macs.

Apple also wants developers to state whether their app or game includes “social media capabilities.” That information is tied to age rating and Screen Time purposes.

Apple says it will publish more information on bundles and suites “later this summer,” with a timing that likely lines up with the launch of iOS 27 and Apple’s other platform updates later in the fall.
