APC chieftain predicts landslide victory for Tinubu in Kano

An APC leader in Kano says political unity, project delivery and “merged” party structures could hand Bola Tinubu a landslide in 2027.

A fresh prediction of a “landslide” in Kano is already shaping the way APC supporters are talking about the 2027 race.

Rabi’u Bichi, an APC chieftain in Kano State and Managing Director of the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, said President Bola Tinubu is positioned to win Kano by a wide margin in 2027. He made the remarks while speaking with Misryoum.

Bichi linked his expectation to what he described as an unprecedented consolidation of the APC political structure in the state, arguing that major party blocs have aligned behind Tinubu’s sole candidacy.. He pointed to the continuity of the Ganduje legacy structure, the National Assembly caucus led by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and the recent influx of high-profile defectors from the PDP and NNPP.

That kind of unity, he added, changes the political “math” ahead of an election, turning scattered support into a more organized push.

According to Bichi, the same consensus did not exist in 2023, a factor he said limited the APC’s reach at the time. He also cited the party’s ability to mobilise resources, mentioning that supporters publicly raised N50 million to offset half of the President’s nomination forms cost.

His point is less about one gesture and more about what it signals: whether the party can move money, people and messaging together across Kano’s local government areas.

Bichi, who served as APC campaign Director-General for Tinubu in Kano in 2023, said Tinubu’s performance in office has further shifted grassroots sentiment.. He referenced federal projects and appointments, including the Kano–Maradi rail line and expanded irrigation under the Hadejia–Jama’are River Basin, along with roles given to Kano indigenes in strategic positions.

He argued that the combination of service delivery and political alignment creates a stronger base going into 2027.. Bichi also said Governor Yusuf’s defection has helped bring state and federal structures under one roof, giving Tinubu what he described as both incumbency advantages and a “merged political machine” in Kano.

In a sign of how APC supporters are rallying around the presidency, Misryoum reported that APC stakeholders in Kano on Thursday endorsed Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.. The decision was reached at a meeting at Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, with Bichi moving the motion and Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, a former Secretary to the State Government, seconding it.

This matters because endorsements and mobilisation can influence turnout, messaging discipline and local expectations, especially when a party believes it has the momentum to translate unity into votes.

At the same time, even as Tinubu had already obtained expression of interest and nomination forms for the APC ticket, the stakeholders’ decision was accompanied by the N50 million raised to cover 50 per cent of the N100 million cost, as Bichi highlighted.
