AOC Warns Trump Deals Won’t Ease Cost Crisis

AOC warns – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said the cost-of-living crisis is worsening for ordinary Americans and accused Donald Trump’s administration of making it worse through “sweetheart deal” policies that she argues benefit companies more than families.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez framed the cost-of-living crisis as something deeper than household budgeting—something families are actively losing to, even as they try to stretch every dollar.
In comments made this weekend. the New York Democrat told former CBS News correspondent Scott MacFarlane. now chief Washington correspondent for the MeidasTouch Network. that the usual “save money” playbook doesn’t match the scale of what people are facing right now. “This isn’t just going to the grocery store and buying the generic cereal, and switching over,” she said.
She pressed the point with questions that landed on the essentials many Americans can’t put off. “How do you actually accommodate when you can’t afford medicine?” Ocasio-Cortez asked. “When you can’t afford your housing?”
For her, it isn’t just a hardship limited to the poorest households. “This is a crisis for so many people, and it’s a crisis for everyday middle-class people,” she added.
When asked whether she believes the Trump administration is taking the issue seriously. Ocasio-Cortez delivered a blunt answer: “No. they are making it worse.” She pointed to what she described as a pattern inside the administration—business-friendly arrangements that she said do not translate into relief for families. “No. they are making it worse because what the Trump administration is doing is that they are entering sweetheart deal after sweetheart deal.”.
She then described the issue as political and economic at the same time. arguing that the White House has struck multiple deals with companies that she alleged have not helped everyday Americans. “This is a crisis for so many people. ” she said earlier. and she returned to the theme by arguing the administration’s approach doesn’t match the moment.
The critique also carried a political warning about consequences beyond the kitchen table. “The cost crisis is a political albatross for Team Trump.. and endangers GOP majorities in November. ” MacFarlane wrote. reflecting the stakes Ocasio-Cortez suggested the issue already holds for the election ahead.
