AOC dodges 2028 calls after Vance prediction

When Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez stepped outside the Capitol on Tuesday, she was already headed into a question she clearly didn’t plan to answer directly.
The comments came from Vice President JD Vance. who predicted that Ocasio-Cortez would be the frontrunner for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination. Reporters asked Ocasio-Cortez about it. and she responded with a line that landed as both a subtle dig and a hard stop. “I mean, you know, I hope he (Vance) is,” she said. “That’s what I’ll say.”.
As she walked away, a reporter tried to tighten the point—asking if she meant that JD Vance would be the Republican nominee. Ocasio-Cortez answered “Yeah,” without expanding further.
The exchange offered little about Ocasio-Cortez’s own political timeline, even as she has been talked about by voters as a potential candidate. She has not officially announced any plans to run in 2028.
Her sidestep came with another set of numbers now sitting in the background of the speculation. Polling averages compiled by 270ToWin put Ocasio-Cortez fourth for the 2028 Democratic nomination behind former Vice President Kamala Harris, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. Harris, the 2024 Democratic nominee, currently leads the pack in those polling averages.
None of the names at the top of that polling list—Harris, Newsom, Buttigieg, or Ocasio-Cortez—have officially declared their candidacy for 2028 as of yet.
The through-line is straightforward: Vance put a future race squarely on Ocasio-Cortez, while she refused to return the favor. What she offered instead was a compact statement about whether he’s correct—and then. when pushed. a quick confirmation about who she thinks Vance would be in the matchup. For now, the political talk keeps rolling. The announcement doesn’t.

lol she dodged it like it was a pop quiz
So wait, she basically said Vance is gonna be the nominee for 2028? I mean she didn’t say she’s running, but she basically confirmed the other side??
Idk why everyone’s acting like her “yeah” means something huge. Reporters always ask the wrong way. Also polling is meaningless, they just pick whoever they want on TV anyway. She’s probably not running because she doesn’t have to, she can just talk about it and stay relevant.
This is so typical politics. Vance says she’ll be the frontrunner and she plays dumb, but then she’s like “yeah” about him being the Republican nominee… like what if that’s not even true? Also I saw Kamala at the top so unless Harris drops out, AOC is stuck in 4th forever, right?
