Andrew Berry: Nothing final yet in Myles Garrett trade
Browns general manager Andrew Berry says the team is negotiating a potential Myles Garrett transaction, but “nothing is final at this point,” with hopes of a resolution within hours after social media reports surfaced.
The morning buzz was loud enough to reach the Browns charity golf event before Andrew Berry had even finished setting the tone. When talk on social media quickly connected Myles Garrett to the Rams, the Cleveland general manager didn’t deny the conversation—but he also refused to call anything done.
Berry spoke to assembled media on Monday, just after he arrived at the event tied to the Browns foundation and the organization’s work off the field. He began there, emphasizing what the day was meant to be about. Then, when the Garrett rumors pressed in, he kept his answer tight and careful.
“Real quick, obviously we wanted today to be about the Browns foundation and everything that we’re doing, the good work that we’re doing there. Not naive that there’s a lot in the social media sphere, media sphere regarding Myles. Nothing is final at this point,” Berry said.
He made it clear the conversation is real, even if the paperwork isn’t. “We are in discussions of a potential transaction including him. I’ll have a lot more to say about it once it is final — if it does become final. And I’ll discuss the details at that point. But we are in negotiations. We’re hopeful that we close something here in the next several hours. But nothing is final right yet.”.
Berry added that he could provide an update soon. “Like I said, I’ll have an update for you guys maybe as soon as tomorrow when there’s resolution.”
A pair of follow-up questions followed Berry’s initial remarks, but he didn’t answer them, saying he had nothing further to offer at the moment.
The timing of the social media reports has already carried meaning in practice: the trade is expected to move forward. But the moment it becomes official is another story—compensation still has to be agreed to. and Garrett still has to pass his physical. There’s no reason, at this point, to believe he wouldn’t clear that step.
For now. the only certainty is the one Berry gave out loud: the Browns and Garrett’s next destination are moving through negotiations. not final signatures. Reporting indicates the Browns would send Garrett to the Rams in exchange for a 2027 first-round pick. edge rusher Jared Verse. and additional draft compensation.

So they traded him or not? Sounds like not final… but also definitely happening lol
If the Browns get a 2027 first I guess that’s fine?? But social media was right already so why is he acting like it’s a maybe
“Nothing is final” usually means they already agreed and they’re just arguing over the paperwork or like how many pancakes to include. Also I heard Rams were getting him like 2 hours before this so yeah… seems like just waiting on the physical which he’ll pass unless he’s secretly hurt
I don’t even know what Jared Verse has to do with anything, but if Garrett goes to the Rams then Cleveland better not act surprised when they lose again. These teams always say “next several hours” like that’s a real timeline, then it turns into “later this week”
