Analogue 3D adds Memories save states in firmware update

Analogue has rolled out a new firmware update for its Analogue 3D console, bringing the Memories save state feature to the N64 system so players can save at any moment and resume later. The update also improves flash-cart support and HDR emulation for OLED TVs

A key pain point for Analogue 3D owners just got a lot easier: Analogue has released a new firmware update for the console that adds its Memories save state feature.

Memories. first introduced with the Analogue Pocket. lets players save at any moment and come back later from that exact spot. instead of being forced to reach a particular point in a game to store progress.. For Analogue 3D users—especially those dealing with how the system handles saving—this is a direct quality-of-life upgrade.

Analogue also framed the change as a way to cut down on some saving-related headaches.. That matters because the Analogue 3D’s Virtual Controller Pak option still isn’t available when using original or wired N64 controllers.. With Memories now in the mix, players have an alternative path for preserving their position.

The update doesn’t stop there. Analogue says the firmware also brings better support for multi-title flash carts. The console can now detect when players switch to a different game, creating individual Virtual Controller Pak saves for each title.

On the display side, Analogue improved HDR capabilities as well, aiming to better emulate the look of old school CRT TVs when running on modern OLED displays.

For anyone invested in keeping N64 sessions consistent—whether that’s saving reliably or matching the feel of original hardware—this firmware update is the kind of change that reduces friction, even if your setup includes the kinds of controller limitations Analogue hasn’t fixed yet.

  1. I don’t even have an N64 anymore but this sounds cool. HDR on OLED still feels weird though, like it’s gonna look washed out.

  2. Wait it says Virtual Controller Pak still isn’t available with wired controllers… so do you have to use the default controller or what? Cause I thought Memories was the same thing as a controller pak lol

  3. I swear these updates are always like ‘fix saving headaches’ but then it breaks something else. Also flash cart support detecting game switching sounds good but how does it know where you were? Like is it reading the ROM or something? I’m confused but I guess I’ll update anyway.
