Phil Mickelson’s wife, Amy, is standing by him as the golf great faces renewed sexual misconduct allegations that have spread far beyond a private dispute.

The latest claims trace back to 2015. when Ashley Perez—an ex-wife of golfer Pat Perez—told a golf outlet that Mickelson. 56. showed her a naked photograph of himself during a tournament week stay. Perez said the alleged incident happened during a 2015 Barclays tournament in New Jersey. after Mickelson arranged for the couple to join him at his villa at Liberty National Golf Course.

In a statement provided to the Daily Mail. Mickelson’s spokeswoman said Amy supports her husband with “extraordinary grace” and “unwavering love” despite the accusations. The statement also said. “the belief that people are measured not only by their failures. but by what they do to make them right.”.

Mickelson has been married to Amy, 54, for almost 30 years, since tying the knot in November 1996. The couple have three children together: Evan, Sophie and Amanda.

The spokeswoman added that “Mr. Mickelson’s priority is to become the husband. father. and man his family deserves. ” and that doing so “means giving his full attention to a private family health matter.” She said Mickelson “understands that parts of his life are public. but his family’s private matters are not.”.

She also struck back at the allegations directly. saying some claims against Mickelson are “false. and others revisit mistakes he has already acknowledged. publicly or privately.” The statement concluded: “Right now. that means giving his full attention to a private family health matter… His story. struggles. and recovery belong to him and to the people who have shared it closely alongside him.”.

Perez’s account, written for the golf outlet by legendary golf writer Alan Shipnuck, describes how the alleged incident unfolded. She said the situation began when Pat Perez excused himself to use the restroom. leaving her alone on the patio with Mickelson. At that point. she claimed the 56-year-old pulled out his phone and showed her a full-body image of himself naked and aroused.

Perez told Shipnuck that Mickelson said to her, “I’m going to leave my bedroom door open tonight. When Pat falls asleep I want you to come see me.” She said she declined his advances and did not tell her husband immediately because she “had not wanted to create a scene mid-tournament.”

When Perez was eventually told, she said Pat confronted Mickelson, who reportedly apologized during a corporate outing at the Madison Club in La Quinta, California.

The allegation later became tied to Perez’s now-notorious comments on Claude Harmon’s podcast in November 2022. Perez said. “I have a different hate for Phil than most people. ” adding: “Phil crossed the line with me that is just uncrossable and unforgivable. He knows that he screwed up. He apologized for the action, but I cannot forgive him for it.”.

Those claims now sit alongside a separate and already-public scandal involving Mickelson’s membership at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe. California. Earlier this month. Golf Digest reported that Mickelson had been removed as a member amid allegations of inappropriate physical contact with a female staff member.

The report said Mickelson approached the employee in the clubhouse, made non-consensual and inappropriate physical contact with her, and was confronted by club officials mid-round before being told to vacate the premises. A representative confirmed that he had resigned from the club.

The Skratch report also said Mickelson had previously departed two other high-end clubs—The Madison Club and The Bridges, also in Rancho Santa Fe—after sources at both said personal conduct was a primary factor.

A woman who attended a tournament dinner with Mickelson described an encounter she characterized as deeply disturbing. She told the outlet: “Out of nowhere. Phil started asking the most inappropriate questions about my personal life and then propositioning me in graphic detail. He went on and on about how he had been fantasizing about me and all the things he wanted to do to me. It was horrible.”.

Mickelson’s spokeswoman responded by dismissing the way the allegations were being framed together, saying, “Stacking the disputed claims next to the ones he has owned does not make them credible. It instead contributes to a false and misleading narrative.”

With Amy still backing her husband, the spotlight remains on the tension between renewed allegations, Mickelson’s history of addressing misconduct accusations, and his family’s insistence that private matters should stay out of public spectacle.
