Amazon’s Echo Sleep Studio targets bedtime stress

Amazon has rolled out Sleep Studio, a new bedtime feature for Echo and Echo Kids smart speakers. It combines bedtime stories, relaxing sounds, guided meditations, and color-coded night-light cues—available to Echo Kids Plus subscribers at no extra cost.
Bedtime is often where the day finally unravels.
Now Amazon is trying to make that moment a little easier—especially for parents and caregivers who are tired of negotiating with kids when it’s time to wind down. The company has launched a new feature for its Echo and Echo Kids smart speakers called Sleep Studio. designed to make the daily shift to sleep more enticing for children and less stressful for the adults in charge.
Sleep Studio bundles bedtime stories, relaxing sounds, and guided meditations. It also comes with scheduling and customization options, but those controls are accessible only to adults.
The feature is available to people with a $5.99 per month Amazon Kids Plus subscription at no extra cost. Amazon is offering a free one-month trial, and purchasing an Echo Kids device includes a complementary six or 12-month subscription.
Amazon says parents can set curated playlists and sleep schedules for their kids using the Amazon Kids Parent Dashboard. That dashboard is offered as a standalone iOS/Android mobile app and also through a dedicated website. A half-hour wind-down routine is set to trigger automatically on Echo devices 30 minutes before a child’s scheduled bedtime.
Kids aren’t stuck waiting for the timing either. They can start the wind-down routine anytime they feel sleepy by saying: “Alexa, play Sleep Studio.”
Even the Echo Glow gets pulled into the routine. The night light, which doubles as the Echo Glow indicator, illuminates with color-coded lights so kids can tell when it’s time to start dozing and when it’s time to get out of bed.
The sleep content is drawn from platforms including Headspace, Moshi, and Calm. Calm’s library includes meditations, lullabies, soundscapes, and Sleep Stories for kids. Fergal Walker. the vice president of partnerships at Calm. said in an Amazon release: “A good night’s sleep is important for a healthy. rested mind for everyone. That’s why Calm has created a sprawling library of meditations, lullabies, soundscapes, and Sleep Stories for kids.”.
Sleep Studio is Amazon’s latest attempt to bring “bedtime mode” to the smart speaker ecosystem—turning the technology from an everyday gadget into a routine kids learn to recognize, and parents can schedule.
