Alsobrooks calls Trump Iran ‘win’ a lie from hell

Alsobrooks calls – Maryland Sen. Angela Alsobrooks ripped President Donald Trump’s push to end a war with Iran, calling his claim of victory “a lie from the pit of hell” and pointing to rising costs, lost safety, and deaths on both sides ahead of a ceremonial memorandum signing

When Sen. Angela Alsobrooks walked on from her remarks on Tuesday, the question she left hanging sounded less like politics and more like personal doubt: “Was it worth the sacrifice?”

In a video posted by Meidas Touch reporter Pablo Manriquez, the Maryland Democrat took aim at President Donald Trump over what she called a “poorly thought-out” war on Iran and his self-proclaimed victory after announcing a memorandum of understanding to end the conflict.

Alsobrooks pointed to what she said Americans are still living through—“escalating costs that continue. ” along with “increased gas prices” and “utility costs.” She also accused the president of taking credit for an outcome that does not erase the damage already done. noting that Iran-related pressure on the Strait of Hormuz was “open before this conflict started. ” and that Trump is now moving to end the fight through a process she described as lacking transparency.

She said she has “not seen any of the details yet,” while pressing for lawmakers to get a clear view of what the memorandum actually contains. The ceremonial signing is set for Friday in Geneva.

For Alsobrooks, the bottom line is not simply whether a deal could be reached, but whether it could undo the harm. She argued that even “the best outcome between Iran and the U.S.” would not reverse what she described as irrevocable effects of the war.

“So after billions of dollars that we have spent, I don’t know that we are any safer,” she said. “As a matter of fact, we’re not.”

She went further, saying she believes Trump’s approach has “almost inadvertently strengthened Iran” through “all of these maneuvers in this war,” which she called “illegal from the start.”

Alsobrooks framed her challenge around ordinary lives, telling listeners to test Trump’s claim in their own homes. “So is this a win for Americans?. I think they can tell. Ask them at their kitchen tables whether their lives are easier today than when we went to war. and I think the answer will be. ‘Absolutely not. We are worse off.’”.

The war has already produced a death toll that she did not soften in her remarks: at least 13 U.S. service members and more than 3,000 Iranians have died.

Public opinion, she said, reflects the same strain. Recent polls show the conflict has become increasingly unpopular with the American people. alongside dire approval ratings for Trump and his job performance. Alsobrooks also highlighted that several Republicans joined Democrats earlier this month to pass a war powers resolution.

Trump, for his part, has not shared the text of the memorandum, which is set for a ceremonial signing Friday.

The conflict itself also tightened the pressure on global energy. According to Alsobrooks’ remarks. the war led Iran to close the Strait of Hormuz. through which a fifth of the world’s oil passes. She linked that closure to “high gas prices” and fears of an energy crisis. And she argued Trump damaged relationships with U.S. allies by “disparaging them” over their criticisms.

“So this whole effort harmed Americans here at home, it harmed us and our reputation across the world,” Alsobrooks said Tuesday. “And nothing that the president does at this point can erase the damage that he has done with this poorly thought-out [conflict].”

Before leaving the frame, she returned to the claim at the center of her argument. “There was no strategy going in and apparently no strategy coming out, but the thing is, it’s a lie from the pit of hell if he says that we won anything in this war, because we did not.”

  1. Wait so they’re signing stuff in Geneva but nobody knows what it says yet? That seems sketchy. Also gas/utility costs already killing people so I get her anger.

  2. I don’t buy the whole “pit of hell” thing, it’s just political theater. But if Iran stuff was “open before,” then why are we still acting like it’s brand new? Idk man, sounds like both sides are just doing PR and blaming each other.

  3. Honestly every time they say “deal” it’s another excuse to spend billions and then people pretend we’re safer. Like what deaths on both sides, who even keeps track? And Geneva meetings always make it seem fancy while my bills go up. I’m just tired of the same circle.
