Coco Gauff is back on the tennis court for the 2026 US Open. On September 5, she’ll play in the third round of the tournament. The young athlete is just 22 years old, but she already has US Open and French Open titles under her belt. In her most recent Grand Slam appearance, she made the semifinals of Wimbledon earlier this summer.

In 2023, Gauff started dating Jalen Sera. “This is my first real relationship,” she admitted in a 2024 Time interview. “To just have someone to talk to who is not involved in tennis at all gives me a fresh perspective.”
However, Gauff’s August social media activity has sparked speculation that she and Sera may have broken up. She reposted a TikTok video that said, “I am a lover with or without a lover. because love is who i am not who i’m with,” and another that said, “How do you expect new beginnings if you don’t create space for them. end cycles let people go, let go of an old mindset, create space.”

Meanwhile, on August 16, Sera posted a photo dump captioned, “No stringssssss.”
Who is Jalen Sera?
Sera is an artist and actor. Gauff told Vogue in 2024, “He’s a very nice guy. He’s in school now. He’s about to apply for music school. He wants to be an actor, and he plays the guitar.”
Per his IMDb page, Sera worked as a production assistant on the TV miniseries Honest T. He also starred in the short Troll.

How did Coco Gauff meet Jalen Sera?
While it’s unclear exactly how Gauff and Sera met, they are both from Atlanta, and her mom, Candi, previously revealed that she was Sera’s fourth-grade teacher.
“My mom always said, ‘If they’re bad in school, they’re probably bad as adults,'” Candi revealed in her daughter’s Time profile. “He’s always been a smart, nice kid.”
In June 2025, Gauff revealed that she and Sera were celebrating their two-year anniversary, so their relationship officially began in June 2023.
