The last few months have been relatively quiet for recent Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy after he headlined a pair of big projects at the start of 2026. Murphy returned to his role as Tommy Shelby for the final time in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, the sequel film capping off the original Peaky Blinders series. Murphy also briefly returned as Jim in the final seconds of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, confirming that he had survived all these years and that he even has a daughter. Murphy is expected to return in the final 28 Years Later film, which is rumored to begin production next year, but an official start date has not been set. He’s also returning to his role as Emmett in A Quiet Place Part III, which is set to be released in theaters on July 30, 2027.

Murphy has long been one of the best actors in the world, but before he starred in Oscar-winning epics like Oppenheimer for Christopher Nolan, he worked with stars like Rachel McAdams on projects like Red Eye. Red Eye is one of the shorter movies that just feels like it’s from a different era — it’s only 85-minutes long, which would make it one of the shorter movies of the year if it were released in 2026. The cleanest elevator pitch to give someone who has never heard of Red Eye is that it’s like a high-octane mash-up of Panic Room and Jason Bourne. It’s the ultimate conspiracy thriller, but it also features a man on a flight who reveals his identity as a terrorist, taking an entire plane hostage as they work to escape the dangerous situation.

How Can You Watch ‘Red Eye’ on Streaming?

Right now, Red Eye is streaming on Paramount Plus for all subscribers. The film is also available to rent or purchase on VOD platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV for only a few dollars, but considering Paramount has not yet announced plans for it to leave streaming, a Paramount Plus subscription offers much more value. Red Eye earned scores of 80% from critics and 64% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Carl Ellsworth and Dan Foos wrote the script for the film and came up with the idea with Wes Craven directing.
