A quiet desert life shatters fast in the first trailer for A24’s Onslaught—and it lands on the shoulders of Adria Arjona.
The 34-year-old actress stars as a mom and soldier who lives in a secluded area in the desert with her daughter. Then the situation turns: a rogue squad of genetically engineered super soldiers breaks loose. and the woman who’s trying to keep distance from the outside world is forced to fight to protect her daughter.
The threat, at least in the trailer’s framing, isn’t just danger—it’s chaos. The film’s synopsis reads like a countdown: when engineered soldiers escape in the desert, a badass Army sniper must unleash hell to defend her young daughter.
Onslaught brings together a standout ensemble alongside Arjona, including Dan Stevens, Eric Wareheim, Reginald VelJohnson, Michael Biehn, Alex Pereira, Drew Starkey and Rebecca Hall.
A24’s release is directed by Adam Wingard, known for You’re Next and Godzilla vs. Kong. The movie is based on a story by Wingard and Simon Barrett, who also penned the script.
Onslaught is set to premiere in theaters on September 4. For Arjona, it’s another step in a busy slate that already includes an appearance in Michael B Jordan’s upcoming The Thomas Crown Affair remake and the series Criminal.
Most notably, she’s also been cast in the upcoming Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow, which is currently filming in Atlanta.
