Adam Cole update: injury kept him off AEW

Adam Cole has been out of AEW action for almost a year after sidelining himself with an undisclosed injury, and a recent update from Matt and Nick Jackson offers only step-by-step hope—while fans still remember how his TNT Championship reign ended at the 2025
Adam Cole hasn’t been seen in-ring for nearly a year, and the picture around his recovery still won’t fully come into focus.
Cole’s last appearance on AEW television came at the 2025 All In Texas PPV. where fans watched him come in front of the live crowd and relinquish the TNT Championship. Since then. he has sidelined himself from in-ring action due to an undisclosed injury. disappearing from both televised programming and wrestling for almost a year.
During a livestream on the Being The Elite YouTube channel. Matt and Nick Jackson offered an update on where Cole’s recovery stands right now. Nick Jackson said they had spoken with Cole “the other day. ” explaining that his progress has been “step by step. ” trying to “take it day by day. ” while also seeing “improvements.” Matt Jackson then added a personal plea. asking viewers to “keep him in your thoughts and prayers. ” calling Cole “the best person I think I’ve ever met in the wrestling business without exaggeration” and saying “he’s the best.”.
The most difficult part is what still can’t be answered. It is currently not known if Adam Cole will ever recover and return to in-ring action. For many fans. that uncertainty has been hanging over the same memory from All In Texas in 2025—one that felt like it could mark the end of a career with so much promise and talent.
Cole had already been taken out of a match at All In Texas. While he was ruled himself out of the bout, he had originally been scheduled to face Kyle Fletcher at the show and lose his title to him.
Fletcher later spoke about that moment as well, describing it as one of the worst experiences of his life. Speaking to Soundsphere Magazine. Fletcher said. “This is the first time I’ve actually really spoken about that day.” He called it “one of the worst days of my whole life. ” explaining that the lead-up had been shaped by anxiety and pressure. Fletcher said he had been dieting for “two. three months leading up to that show. ” with “every single day” spent thinking about the match and the moment. only for “the rug” to get pulled “five hours before.” He said he couldn’t describe how it felt. saying he was left “in this weird limbo.”.
Fletcher’s comments didn’t only live in that moment of disappointment. He later found himself in a major negative light with fans following what he said, a backlash that has been reflected in the embedded video shared alongside the discussion.
Back in the present. the Jacksons’ message leaves Cole’s situation in the same place it has been for much of his absence: progress that exists. but a return date that doesn’t. “Step by step” and “day by day” are the language of a recovery that is improving. yet still not guaranteed—leaving fans to hold onto the possibility. even as the unknown stretches on.
