Acho calls Dart “stupid” as Giants locker room flares

Emmanuel Acho tore into Jaxson Dart for introducing Donald Trump at a New York event last week, calling it “pretty stupid” and “stupid.” The move sparked an open backlash from Giants linebacker Abdul Carter, who later insisted he and Dart were good ahead of a

The moment Donald Trump stepped onstage, Jaxson Dart was already in the spotlight.

On Friday. the 23-year-old Giants quarterback—an impressive rookie last season—introduced the 45th and 47th President of the United States at Rockland Community College in New York. The setting was charged: the crowd erupted into a chant of “Go Big Blue!” before Dart delivered the formal introduction. Trump then walked onstage to Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA. ” hugged Dart. and later called him a “future Hall of Famer.”.

But what happened next wasn’t about football.

Former NFL player and Fox analyst Emmanuel Acho posted on X that Dart’s decision to take that role was “stupid.” Acho. who played just 20 games in the NFL. framed the issue as one of team realities rather than political rights. “It’s time to have an uncomfortable conversation about what the hell is going on in New York,” he said. Then, in his bluntest line, he added: “Jaxson Dart, the quarterback, supporting President Donald Trump?!?. He’s allowed to do that, he’s a citizen.”.

Acho’s complaint wasn’t whether Dart could do it. It was the message Dart sent to teammates who may have felt blindsided by the public endorsement. He argued Dart hadn’t considered how “several of your brothers. your teammates. your friends. your ride or dies” might react. and said he didn’t believe there was “a lot of wisdom or disarmament” in publicly supporting someone “who many of your teammates felt offended by.”.

Acho later added that it was “pretty stupid” for Dart to accept the role because of the reaction it would trigger—words that quickly pulled the story into a larger online fight about what athletes should or shouldn’t say about politics.

That tension became visible inside the Giants universe when Abdul Carter—about to enter his second NFL season—publicly blasted Dart. Taking to X on Saturday morning, the linebacker wrote: “Thought this s*** was AI, what we doing man.”

Carter later said he spoke to Dart privately after calling him out. On Saturday night, he tried to close the door on any idea of a rift in the locker room, posting: “Me & JD6 (Dart) are good! We spoke earlier as Men. Yall can keep yall narratives.”

The feud did, however, spill outward. Jermaine Eluemunor pushed back on the idea that locker-room harmony was collapsing, replying on Saturday to a Patriots reporter’s post about the controversy with: “Locker Room is fine. Focus on New England”.

Lawrence Tynes also stepped in, defending Dart after Carter’s first critical post. In response. Tynes wrote that the “locker room is a sacred place because it brings together everyone from all walks of life and beliefs for one common goal. ” adding that “calling a teammate out publicly for his political views and to get attention is nasty work.”.

Even the event itself added fuel. During Trump’s remarks, he complimented Dart’s physical appearance and said: “I’m looking at Jaxson… I’m looking at the legs there. He’s this beautiful guy. He’s got legs like tree trunks. This is not a good thing for women.”

Dart, meanwhile, hasn’t been heavily outspoken politically since being drafted by the Giants in 2025. Still, there were moments that complicated the picture. After the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk last September, Dart shared “some kind words” about him. He then posted a message from Team Trump titled “Pray for Charlie Kirk. ” commenting alongside it: “May God watch over him and his family!”.

Online, criticism of Acho’s comments was swift. One fan replied that Acho “said NOTHING when LeBron or whoever else publicly endorsed Kamala Harris. ” asking whether people are “free to choose our candidate without fear of reprisal.” Another wrote that following a party “blindly” shouldn’t mean others can’t “think critically.” A third response went after the double standard. saying: “Bet if he introduced Harris you would be saying that his teammates should support him regardless of who he supports as president.”.

Now the Giants have to move forward with a summer of preparation ahead under new head coach John Harbaugh—while living with the reality that, for a few days, the locker room’s biggest story wasn’t play-calling.

It was a quarterback stepping onto a national stage with Trump—and the furious, very public reaction that followed from within his own team.

  1. I mean he’s allowed to support whoever, but the locker room stuff is always messy. Emmanuel Acho talks like he knows everything though, he seems kinda dramatic.

  2. Wait so they’re mad he introduced Trump at a college? That feels more like politics than football problems. Also didn’t that Abdul Carter guy say everything was cool after? Maybe Acho just likes the outrage.

  3. This headline is confusing cuz it says “Giants locker room flares” like it’s a literal fight. I think they’re overreacting, like Dart did an introduction, not like he drafted a bill. And if teammates didn’t like it, that’s on them to handle it privately. Emmanuel Acho calling it “stupid” doesn’t exactly mean he’s right, it just means he’s got a hot take.
