Goodwood demands answers as Angelo still missing

Stephon Nicholas To-ba-go Cor-re-spon-dent The peo-ple of Good-wood are call-ing for jus-tice in the dis-ap-pear-ance of two-year-old An-ge-lo To-bias-Plaza.
Af-ter four days of search-ing land and sea, au-thor-i-ties have failed to lo-cate the tod-dler, who re-port-ed-ly went miss-ing from his Good-wood home on Mon-day night.
An-ge-lo lived with his moth-er Kali-fa To-bias and her boyfriend Shan-non Miller at Cam-bridge Trace, ap-prox-i-mate-ly 100 me-tres from the sea.
De-spite a labour-er claim-ing to have seen the body in the sea around 6.30 am on Tues-day, there have been no fur-ther sight-ings de-spite a de-ploy-ment of drones, po-lice, sol-diers, Coast Guard, To-ba-go Emer-gency Man-age-ment Agency mem-bers, a pri-vate ma-rine com-pa-ny and the Hunters’ Search and Res-cue Team.
Po-lice yes-ter-day con-tin-ued to ques-tion Miller and To-bias af-ter search-ing the home ear-li-er this week.
An-ge-lo’s bi-o-log-i-cal fa-ther An-to-nio Plaza, who lives in Trinidad, ar-rived in the Good-wood area with his moth-er Meena Plaza yes-ter-day.
The grand-moth-er said she re-mains op-ti-mistic An-ge-lo is alive.
“I don’t un-der-stand why they can’t find my grand-son dead or alive.
Where is him?
We need to find him,” she said.
“I know he liv-ing some-where.
He not dead.
He is alive.
My God tell me my grand-son is alive and I come to see.
If my God is re-al, we gonna find him alive.” She urged the po-lice to help find the child.
In an in-ter-view with an-oth-er me-dia house, To-bias in-sist-ed her son did not wan-der in-to the ocean.
She said An-ge-lo was pet-ri-fied of the dark and the sea.
“Them say-ing the child is in the sea.
He is not in the sea.
I keep telling peo-ple that.
Al-lyuh check some-where else,” she said.
She spec-u-lat-ed that he may have been kid-napped.
Mean-while, the child’s bi-o-log-i-cal dad has de-scribed the sto-ry be-ing told to po-lice as un-be-liev-able.
Wendy Des Vi-gnes, pres-i-dent of the Good-wood Vil-lage Coun-cil, told Guardian Me-dia that the moth-ers in the area want to know what hap-pened with An-ge-lo.
She said the po-lice are now show-ing in-tent in their in-ves-ti-ga-tion.
“The peo-ple feel-ing a lit-tle more re-laxed even though they eh re-trieve the body as yet,” she said.
Des Vi-gnes said vil-lagers will be the voice of An-ge-lo.
“Peo-ple want jus-tice.
It is a child that has no voice.
We don’t know what re-al-ly be-come of this child.
“It is a hu-man be-ing, not an an-i-mal that you could just for-get about.
Some-body needs to know what went on with this child,” she said.
Des Vi-gnes urged the par-ents to tell the po-lice every-thing they know.
“I am a moth-er and a grand-moth-er.
Most of the peo-ple out there are moth-ers and they are feel-ing hurt about this child.” She said the in-ci-dent would set a prece-dent on the du-ty of care to chil-dren.
“If they leave this like this.
a child could go miss-ing and it is okay, they would just rule it as the par-ents don’t know where the child is, so it is nor-mal.
That is not nor-mal.
Peo-ple need to know and give ac-count about chil-dren’s dis-ap-pear-ance.” Megan Mor-ri-son, area rep-re-sen-ta-tive for Mt St George/Good-wood, said she vis-it-ed the fam-i-ly on Thurs-day night.
Asked what ad-vice she has for par-ents, she said, “It is al-ways good as par-ents to keep an eye on your chil-dren, es-pe-cial-ly the times we are liv-ing in.” She added, “You see a man’s face, you don’t see his heart.
We as par-ents have to pay par-tic-u-lar at-ten-tion to our chil-dren and their well-be-ing and how they progress in life, be-cause you re-al-ly can’t trust any-one.
Some-times, we our-selves as par-ents make mis-takes.”
