iRacing Connect Brings Racing to Apple Vision Pro

iRacing Connect launches on the App Store for Vision Pro owners, streaming high-fidelity sim racing from PCs with NVIDIA RTX GPUs.

Racing simulation just got a new cockpit, and it’s built for mixed reality. With iRacing Connect now available for Apple Vision Pro users, fans can pair their real-world racing rig with a virtual cockpit designed to keep the steering wheel aligned with what they see in the game.

The app is available starting Tuesday, May 12, and it comes free on the App Store for compatible headsets. This follows earlier confirmation that iRacing was headed to Apple’s spatial platform, with Apple Services chief Eddy Cue signaling plans for the service in April.

At the heart of the experience is how physical hardware is mirrored inside the virtual world.. iRacing Connect is designed to blend a user’s existing racing setup with an in-game cockpit. including alignment between the physical steering wheel and the in-game controls.. That matters for immersion in sim racing. where timing and steering accuracy are the difference between a good lap and a frustrating one.

To deliver that spatial experience, the app relies on technical integration of CloudXR.. In practical terms. the heavy lifting is done on a PC: physics calculations and high-fidelity graphics rendering run on systems equipped with NVIDIA’s RTX GPUs.. The results are then encoded and sent wirelessly over Wi‑Fi to iRacing Connect running on visionOS.

The wireless path is a key part of why the setup demands specific network conditions.. According to iRacing, frames are shared over Wi‑Fi, so users need a stable connection with performance in mind.. The app’s rollout is paired with an expectation that the local network can handle rapid data transfer without introducing noticeable lag that would disrupt real-time steering.

iRacing says it worked with Apple and NVIDIA to bring the simulation experience into spatial computing.. iRacing president Tony Gardner said the collaboration combines Apple Vision Pro’s ultra-high-resolution capabilities with NVIDIA’s RTX power. describing the outcome as a spatial driving experience built to deliver immersion and fidelity that sim racers haven’t seen in this form before.

To try iRacing on Vision Pro, users will need an Apple Vision Pro running visionOS 26.4.. The PC setup is also specific: it must include an NVIDIA graphics card model 4070Ti+ or 5070Ti+. and the GPU driver needs to be version 580+.. On the networking side. iRacing calls for a Wi‑Fi 6+ router capable of over 1000Mbps on the 5Ghz band. along with the expectation that the wireless link can sustain the streamed frames.

For sim racing enthusiasts, the bigger implication is where the “simulation” can happen.. Instead of running the whole rendering pipeline on the headset. the approach shifts compute and graphics back to a capable NVIDIA RTX PC and streams what the headset needs in near real time.. That architecture can preserve visual quality while allowing Apple Vision Pro to focus on display and interaction. but it also places the spotlight on PC performance and home-network quality.

Mixed reality also changes how users relate to their rigs.. When the physical wheel is aligned with the virtual cockpit. the experience becomes less about watching a screen and more about coordinating muscle memory with what’s happening in the simulated car.. If the alignment is consistent. steering inputs can feel more natural. which is especially important in a genre where subtle differences in braking points. corner entry. and steering corrections are constantly at play.

As iRacing Connect expands onto visionOS, it signals how established gaming and simulation brands are moving toward spatial-first experiences.. The release is free for eligible Vision Pro owners. but it’s clearly positioned for a complete ecosystem: the right headset software version. a high-end NVIDIA RTX PC with a current driver. and a fast Wi‑Fi 6+ network that can keep the spatial stream responsive.
