5 Dead, 19 Hurt as Roseland Mass Shooting Erupts

Roseland mass – At least five people were killed and 19 others were injured in shootings across Chicago since Friday afternoon, including a mass shooting in Roseland on the South Side that left 12 people wounded.
For the second time in less than a day, Chicago gunfire turned a street into a scene of rushed triage and unanswered questions.

Chicago police said the mass shooting unfolded after a large crowd gathered in the 200 block of West 95th Street. Around 11 p.m. Friday, a red SUV drove by and two people inside opened fire.
When officers arrived, they found a 32-year-old woman with two gunshot wounds to her back. She was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Police said her condition was not specified beyond the fact she was transported.
A 44-year-old man also suffered four graze wounds. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, and police said he was in good condition.
Police said at least 10 other people were also injured, with victims ranging between 17 and 47 years old.
A 38-year-old woman suffered graze wounds to the body and self-transported to Little Company of Mary Hospital in fair condition. A 47-year-old man was shot in the knee and self-transported to Little Company of Mary Hospital in fair condition.
A 36-year-old woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and self-transported to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in fair condition. A 32-year-old man was shot in the head and self-transported to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Another 32-year-old woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and self-transported to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
A 17-year-old boy was shot in the thigh and self-transported to Trinity Hospital in critical condition. A 22-year-old woman was shot in the thigh and self-transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition.
A 30-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and self-transported to Trinity Hospital in fair condition. A 27-year-old man was shot multiple times in the body and self-transported to Trinity Hospital in fair condition. A 26-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and self-transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.
Earlier on Friday, another attack unfolded on the South Side. Around 5:15 p.m., a man standing on the sidewalk in the 11900 block of South Michigan Avenue was shot after an SUV drove by and opened fire.
Police said the man was 29 and suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the face and body. He was taken to Roseland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A 70-year-old man who was nearby was also shot and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in stable condition.
Later Friday night, police reported a series of deadly shootings. Around 8:55 p.m., a 33-year-old man was found shot to death in the 3700 block of West 30th Street. Police said he was shot several times and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Just before 10 p.m., a man, 34, was found in the 1100 block of West Latrobe Avenue with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Less than an hour later, officers found a 50-year-old man shot in the chest in the first block of West 75th Street. Police said he was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Early Saturday, police said a 37-year-old man was killed in the 500 block of West 38th Street. He was found around 12:15 a.m. with a gunshot wound in the neck and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Taken together, the shootings left at least five people dead and 19 others injured, including at least six other people wounded in shootings since 5 p.m. Friday.
