Three very private New England campsites have made a big impression on campers this year, according to Hipcamp.

The camping app released the results of its 2026 Hipcamp Awards on Tuesday, naming the best places to camp in the U.S. and calling them “some of the most incredible camping experiences in the world,” and three regional campsites made the list of best Hipcamp newcomers.
Hipcamp’s offerings range from traditional campgrounds to private lands to unique accommodations such as glamping tents and treehouses. Among the 15 winners in the newcomer category, described as “properties making a name for themselves in just a short period of time,” are Goodfield Farm Rustic Camping in Hardwick, Mass.; Mountain Brook Hideaway in Brookfield, N.H.; and River Farm in Wardsboro, Vermont. All three offer just a single campsite for maximum privacy.
“There are thousands of incredible places to camp on Hipcamp, so being recognized in the Awards is a genuinely high bar,” said Alyssa Ravasio, CEO and founder of Hipcamp, in a statement. “These are places that have earned exceptional feedback again and again, and we’re excited to give the Hosts behind them the recognition they deserve.”
Goodfield Farm Rustic Camping in Massachusetts, owned by Anne And Brett Lehner, is described as “rough camping in style.”
“Our farm boasts a large meadow, previously farmed by the Goodfield family for generations, overlooking a western hill range with long beautiful sunsets,” wrote the Lehners in the listing.
The farm is walking distance from a brewery, diner, and bakery, and 15 minutes from the Quabbin Reservoir. The farm accommodates travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy haulers, pop-up campers, class B RVs, campervans, cars, truck campers, and rooftop tents. There is no bathroom, so campers must bring a camp toilet.
The rate starts at $28 a night for two guests and the site sleeps a maximum of five guests.
Mountain Brook Hideaway in New Hampshire is loaded with wildlife such as deer, moose, otters, mink, and a variety of birds, and guests can go kayaking, bird watching, hiking, and more.
“Surrounded by towering hemlocks and the gentle sounds of a nearby brook, this quiet slice of New Hampshire wilderness offers a rare mix of serenity and adventure,” wrote owner David Champey in the listing.
The destination accommodates travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy haulers, pop-up campers, class A RVs, class B RVs, class C RVs, campervans, cars, truck campers, and rooftop tents. There is no bathroom, so campers must bring a camp toilet.
The rate starts at $51 per night for two guests and the site sleeps a maximum of six guests.
At River Farm in Vermont, campers can enjoy a private swimming area and small beach, wrote owner Will Desabris in the listing.
The farm accommodates pop-up campers, class B RVs, campervans, cars, truck campers, and rooftop tents. There is a fire pit, charcoal grill, picnic table, and new composting outhouse. Fire wood is also available.
The rate starts at $40 per night for two guests and the site sleeps a maximum of 10 guests.
This year’s award-winning campgrounds were decided after Hipcamp analyzed the bookings, ratings, and reviews from more than 8 million users across more than 500,000 campsites.
There is a total of 574 U.S. winners — 61 in New England — across the following eight categories: best Hipcamp newcomers; best Hipcamps in every state; best tent sites; best RV and trailer sites; best van and overland spots; best glamping sites; best farmstays; and the Hipcamp legacy awards.
