A mother got the call from Venezuela and was told her 18-year-old son had been kidnapped—then given an address to check.

Tuesday night, Chicago police found his body inside an apartment in the 6800 block of South Perry Avenue, according to a Chicago police report. Police said they responded to a well-being check around 9 p.m. and the unidentified teen, who had been shot, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The report says the mother received a phone call from a person she did not know. The caller told her the kidnapping happened about 3 p.m. Monday near a basketball court in the 7100 block of South King Drive. The caller then said her son could be found “inside an apartment” at the South Perry Avenue address.

When investigators arrived, the report states the teen was lying face down in a bathtub with his hands tied behind his back. Police said he suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and leg. Three nine-millimeter shell casings were found near his body.

Area 1 detectives are investigating.
