Hayden Panettiere’s boyfriend Brian Hickerson detained in bar altercation
Brian Hickerson, Hayden Panettiere’s boyfriend, was detained after an alleged altercation at a restaurant. He and his brother were among ‘several individuals involved,’ authorities said.
Zach Hickerson, brother of late actress Hayden Panettiere’s boyfriend Brian Hickerson, has resolved a case that landed him behind bars earlier this month.
The 38-year-old, who was arrested for disorderly conduct at a Greenville, South Carolina, restaurant on Sept. 12, paid a $150 fine for the citation on Wednesday, Sept. 23, according to court records reviewed by USA TODAY Sept. 24. The case was disposed.
USA TODAY has reached out to Zach Hickerson for comment.
Hours after his arrest, Hickerson was released on personal recognizance Sept. 13. Court records listed the total case amount as $257.50.
The Hickerson brothers were among “several individuals involved in an altercation” at Wild Wing Café on Sept. 12, with “multiple patrons” detained while the incident was investigated, the Greenville Police Department previously told USA TODAY.
Officers were dispatched to the restaurant around 9:10 p.m. “in reference to a reported assault inside the restaurant.”
According to police, “During the investigation, officers determined that Zach Hickerson was highly intoxicated. He began yelling profanities in a public setting, and as a result, he was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and transported to the Greenville County Detention Center.”
Meanwhile, Brian Hickerson was released at the scene and was not charged. His attorney did not respond to a request for comment.
According to a supplemental police incident report reviewed by Fox Carolina, Brian Hickerson was seen with injuries to his face. Zach Hickerson allegedly ignored officers’ orders to not approach his brother, according to an officer, and was upset about others who were involved not being detained. He reportedly claimed Brian Hickerson was the victim in the altercation.
The incident took place nearly a month after Panettiere, 36, died Aug. 16 inside a South Carolina apartment complex due to the combined “toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, Alprazolam, Methocarbamol and Quetiapine.” Brian and Zach Hickerson found her unresponsive and called 911, according to a police report previously obtained by USA TODAY.
Zach Hickerson slammed ‘rumors’ that cause people ‘to attack’
Paparazzi video shared by TMZ on Sept. 13 showed Zach Hickerson outside the jail in Greenville. After being asked how he’s holding up, he replied, “This is the problem with y’all putting stuff on the internet. People fill in their own holes, and they want to attack people for no reason.”
He continued, “It’s just super frustrating all that we’ve been through and all the rumors that get started and then people believe them, and then they attack as a result of the rumors.”
Though he declined to go into detail about what led to his arrest, he told the cameraman, “I’ll clarify eventually.”
