Young Sherlock Returns, The Gentlemen Heads Back to Netflix

Guy Ritchie’s crime run is making another lap on streaming: Prime Video’s Young Sherlock is set to return for Season 2 after its binge debut, while Netflix’s The Gentlemen—already renewed for a second season—has climbed back into global top 10 rankings in mult

Guy Ritchie’s crime comeback has been anything but smooth—but Netflix and Prime Video are keeping him in the mix.

Prime Video dropped all episodes of Young Sherlock in a binge format a few months ago. and the series didn’t just draw attention. It spent time at the top of streaming charts on its way to earning a Season 2 renewal. with Ritchie expected to return for the follow-up. For fans who’ve been waiting to see whether Ritchie’s sharp-edged storytelling had more in it after recent detours. the show’s momentum is the clearest signal yet.

Ritchie’s year elsewhere has been rockier. His long-gestating action movie In the Grey—starring Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal—bombed hard at the box office. After that theatrical misfire. the film moved quickly to VOD platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV. where it’s now trying to find a second life as one of the most-watched titles of the week.

Even with the setbacks, Ritchie hasn’t been stuck in the shadows for long. Back in 2024. he turned to Netflix for The Gentlemen. the hit crime series built in the same universe as his 2019 film of the same name starring Matthew McConaughey and Charlie Hunnam. The Gentlemen performed strongly for Netflix in 2024, and it was picked up for Season 2. Filming for Season 2 wrapped last year.

Netflix still hasn’t posted a release date for the second season. but it has been confirmed that Season 2 will premiere before the end of this year. Before that return. The Gentlemen has surged back into Netflix’s global top 10 on the platform in a handful of countries—an early reminder that the audience hasn’t gone anywhere while the production wheels turn.

The sequence matters for viewers trying to track what comes next: Young Sherlock’s Season 2 renewal was earned on streaming charts. while The Gentlemen’s Season 2 is already filmed and approaching its end-of-year window. At the same time. In the Grey is trying to translate star power—Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal included—into streaming traction after its box office collapse.

The Gentlemen’s story is set up around Eddie Horniman. who inherits his father’s sprawling English country estate expecting land and legacy—not a thriving underground cannabis empire. With Britain’s most dangerous criminals refusing to walk away, Eddie is forced to learn the game by their rules. The official synopsis frames it as a world of “sharp suits. sharper instincts. lethal consequences. ” with Guy Ritchie directing five episodes and serving as the primary writer and creator of the series.

Giancarlo Esposito is also in The Gentlemen, and Daniel Ings—recently seen as Lyonel Baratheon in the Games of Thrones spin-off A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms—has a key role.

For now. the punchline for Ritchie fans is simple: new crime chapters are lining up on both major streamers. with Young Sherlock’s next step already mapped out through renewal and The Gentlemen’s return confirmed to arrive before the end of this year—just as the show starts climbing the charts again.
