Yankees’ Grisham relieved after left knee tests

Yankees’ Grisham – Trent Grisham says he was optimistic his left knee wouldn’t show structural damage after exiting Wednesday’s game in the fifth inning, and tests confirmed no structural injury ahead of the Yankees’ four-game series against Toronto.
NEW YORK — Trent Grisham didn’t have the luxury of waiting on hope. After he exited a game in the fifth inning a day earlier, the Yankees centre fielder spent Thursday with one clear question hovering over him: what did the left knee tests show?
The answer brought relief. Grisham said he was glad that the tests did not reveal any structural damage to his left knee.
“Last night I was pretty optimistic just with how I was feeling there would be no structural damage but still good to get the news,” Grisham said before New York concluded a four-game series against Toronto.
The worry started on Wednesday in a 2-1 loss to the Blue Jays. Grisham grimaced at second base after his bloop double fell between left fielder Yohendrick Piñango and third baseman Kazuma Okamoto in the second inning.
He stayed in the game until Spencer Jones replaced him in centre in the fifth. Jones made his second start in centre Thursday after playing 22 games there for triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Off the field, the numbers already tell a story of a season that hasn’t quite clicked for Grisham. The 29-year-old is hitting .174 with six homers and 27 RBIs. His batting average is the fourth-lowest in the majors among qualifying hitters, but his 27 RBIs are the third-most among centre fielders.
There’s also history in how Grisham returned to this moment. Acquired from the Padres in December 2023 along with Juan Soto. Grisham returned to the Yankees on the one-year. $22. 025. 000-million qualifying offer in the off-season after batting .235 with a career-high 34 homers and 74 RBIs in 143 games.
For now, the key is what didn’t show up on the scans. With no structural damage reported, Grisham gets to breathe again — and the Yankees get one less unknown heading into what comes next.

So they scanned it and it’s fine? Good… but his batting still trash though.
Relieved? Yeah until the next random injury happens lol. Also .174 is rough, like how is he still starting.
I don’t get why they’re relieved about “no structural damage” like that means he’s automatically 100%. Knee stuff can still be messed up even if it’s not structural. Yankees fans acting like it’s over.
Wait was this the same guy they got with Juan Soto? I thought Soto was like the whole deal and now it’s just Grisham limping between left and center? Idk the stats were already bad last year too so maybe it’s more than just the knee tests.
