The drummer is terminating his contract with JYP Entertainment over the controversy, with the band set to continue as a quintet.
Xdinary Heroes drummer Gunil will leave the band after controversy erupted over an online post claiming that he insulted fans.
“We are deeply aware of the seriousness of the situation regarding the recent matter involving Gunil, and had extensive discussions with the artist,” the band’s agency JYP Entertainment said in a statement Thursday. “As a result, we determined that it would be difficult for him to continue team activities and mutually agreed to terminate his exclusive contract. We would like to inform the public that Gunil will leave Xdinary Heroes as of today and conclude his activities with the band.”
Xdinary Heroes will continue its activities as a five-member group. The agency added that it will provide full support to the remaining members so they can focus on their music activities.
Although the agency did not specify the matter in its statement, Gunil recently came under fire after a post said that the drummer frequently insulted fans.
The poster, who claimed to be the drummer’s former girlfriend, wrote that he “often insults fans in front of me and is very different from how he normally behaves and appears on broadcasts.” The poster added they had felt uncomfortable and wanted to talk about it but kept it to themself before eventually deciding to upload the post because “seeing him on a broadcast made it especially difficult.”
Xdinary Heroes debuted in December 2021 and is known for tracks such as “Happy Death Day” (2021), “Hello, World!” (2022), “Deadlock” (2023), “FiRE (My Sweet Misery)” (2025) and “X room.”
The band, now a quintet, consists of members Jooyeon, Jungsu, Gaon, Jun Han and O.de.
