Recently, the “American Nightmare” and former WWE Champion Cody Rhodes visited Marvel Studios, but is he teasing a role in the next season of the animated show X-Men ’97?
A recent social media post might hint at his next acting gig. He posted a video of himself signing autographs ahead of a live event, and he used the X-Men ’97 theme, according to That COMICBOOK Guy on X, formerly Twitter.

It could be nothing, but the “American Nightmare” likely knows what he’s doing, starting fan speculation about a possible role in an X-Men project.
Is WWE’s Cody Rhodes in a future Marvel X-Men project?
Fans will have to wait and see if Rhodes ends up in a future X-Men project. The second season of X-Men ’97 just wrapped on Disney+ on Aug. 12. So, it will likely be a couple of years before the third season comes out.
However, a live-action X-Men movie is coming down the pike in the MCU. It will mark the beginning of the next saga of the MCU on May 5, 2028.
As of the time of this writing, it is the first MCU movie set to be released following Avengers: Secret Wars, which will come out in December 2027. That will put the Multiverse Saga to rest after Phase Four started it in 2021.
There are only a couple of MCU movies slated beyond Secret Wars. X-Men will start the next phase, and a Ghost Rider movie directed by Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine) and starring Ryan Gosling will come out a couple of months later on July 28. To close out the year, the third Black Panther movie will be released on Dec. 15.
Perhaps Rhodes is part of the live-action MCU cast. Either way, WWE fans will just have to sit tight before any casting is announced.
Rhodes is getting ready to star in his biggest project to date, Street Fighter. He will play Guile. His former rival, Roman Reigns, is also in it. This marks his second major movie role after appearing in The Naked Gun with Liam Neeson in 2025.
