Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers acknowledged the intangible contributions of her veteran teammate after their win over the Connecticut Sun.
Appearing to be peaking at the right moment, the Dallas Wings rolled to their fourth straight win after blowing out the Connecticut Sun, 97-71, at College Park Center on Sunday.
The Wings employed a balanced attack against the Sun, leading by as much as 32 points. Dallas set the tempo early, outscoring Connecticut, 32-18, in the first quarter.
Jessica Shepard had a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, on top of four assists, to lead the Wings. Arike Ogunbowala had 18 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while Bueckers had 15 points and six assists. None of the three stars played for more than 25 minutes.
After the game, Bueckers made sure to credit her other teammates who stepped up, including Alysha Clark, whom she heaped with praise.
“Our bench is huge for us. There are so many people who make an impact on winning basketball, and it shows up in the little things that don’t even show up on the stat sheet.
“AC, I think, in my opinion, is one of the best vets, if not the best vet in the league. Just her voice, her competitive spirit, and her holding people accountable.”

Clark contributed eight points and 15 rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench. She is in her first stint with the Wings in 14 seasons in the WNBA.
The 39-year-old forward has won three titles with the Seattle Storm and the Las Vegas Aces. She is a former Sixth Player of the Year and a two-time member of the All-Defensive Team.
Bueckers, who recently tied a team record, also saluted Aziaha James and Maddy Siegrist, who combined for 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field.
“We have a great locker room, great group of people, and it’s really fun to play with these guys,” added Bueckers.
The Wings, who improved to 24-16, will face the Los Angeles Sparks on September 17.
