William Reveals Charlotte’s Goal-Obsessed Love for Women’s Soccer

Prince William says Princess Charlotte’s favorite pastime is women’s soccer, recalling how the youngster asked about her own goalkeeping prowess and urged him to tell players she’s “really good at goal.”

Prince William didn’t just show up for women’s soccer celebration moments this year, he also made it clear where his daughter’s heart lives. The Prince of Wales has spoken about Princess Charlotte’s passion for the sport, offering a peek at the game that keeps her coming back.

In conversations around his royal work. William praised former women’s soccer player Kerry Davis. calling her a “pioneer.” He also shared a more personal detail: Davis had asked about Charlotte “because she plays.” That connection led to William’s direct message from his child. reinforcing just how tuned in she is.

William said Charlotte wanted him to tell Davis and others that she’s “really good at goal.” He added: “She said. ‘Please tell them that.’ She’s a budding star for the future.” The remark was made during William’s visit to a practice in 2022. where he often brings his middle child to watch the U.K.’s women’s team.

The soccer love doesn’t stay confined to stadium seats.. In multiple social media videos, Charlotte has joined her father to wish the players good luck.. William has even framed those messages in clips tied to major matches. including a 2023 video ahead of England’s game against Spain in the FIFA Women’s World Cup final.

“In his clip from 2023,” William told the Lionesses, “Lionesses want to wish you a huge good luck for tomorrow.. We’re sorry we can’t be there in person.” He then added. “But we’re so proud of everything you’ve achieved and the millions you’ve inspired here and around the world.” Charlotte chimed in with her own line: “Good luck. Lionesses!”

William’s spotlight on the sport also comes through charity and star-studded partnerships. In 2025, he joined forces with English soccer star Jill Scott to mark 100 years of the Fields in Trust charity, and he later awarded Kerry Davis the Member of the Order of the British Empire.

For all the public attention around him, William has tried to keep his family grounded.. At 43 years old. he continues working to ensure his three children. Charlotte.
