White Sox surge past Dodgers with late six-run burst

White Sox – Colson Montgomery, Sam Antonacci and Chase Meidroth hit homers as Chicago scored six runs in the sixth inning, holding off the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 on Sunday.
For six innings, the White Sox were the ones waiting—watching a lead slip away in small moments, digging themselves out with contact and patience. Then, in the sixth, Chicago finally struck with force.
Colson Montgomery, Sam Antonacci and Chase Meidroth each delivered a homer as the White Sox posted a six-run sixth inning and held on to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 on Sunday at Chicago.
Montgomery added a double and Andrew Benintendi finished with two hits as Chicago won its eighth straight series at home and took a set from the Dodgers for the first time since 2014. It was also the White Sox’s fourth win in their last five overall.
The Dodgers, led by NL West-leading power, answered with solo home runs from Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts. Alex Freeland had two RBIs, but Los Angeles couldn’t match the surge that Chicago created when Emmet Sheehan and Jack Dreyer were on the mound.
Chicago trailed 1-0 and had one hit before it got going. In the opening run of that sixth inning, the White Sox strung together six straight hits off Sheehan and Dreyer, turning a slow start into a lead that grew fast.
Antonnacci led off with a solo shot to tie the game at 1. Miguel Vargas singled and came home on Benintendi’s double to make it 2-1. Montgomery then greeted Dreyer with his 17th homer—a two-run drive that pushed Chicago to 4-1.
After Braden Montgomery singled, Meidroth went deep to send the lead to 6-1, leaving the Dodgers with too much ground to make up.
Erick Fedde, Chicago’s third pitcher, earned the win after tossing 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Seranthony Dominguez entered the ninth and allowed a run on a double and two walks, but he struck out Freeman with two men on to secure his 12th save.
Sheehan went 5-plus innings, allowing three runs and four hits, while striking out eight. He didn’t give up a hit until Colson Montgomery doubled with two outs in the fourth.
Before the sixth-inning explosion. Chicago opened with a pair of left-handers for the first 3 1/3 innings against a Dodgers lineup featuring six left-handed batters. led by Shohei Ohtani. Bryan Hudson pitched first and allowed Freeman’s 11th homer. Sean Newcomb followed with 2 1/3 hitless innings before Fedde took over with one out in the fourth.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts missed the game to attend his daughter’s college graduation.
The sequence told its own story: Chicago absorbed early damage—Freeman’s homer included—then waited through hitless stretches and starter control. When the sixth finally arrived, the White Sox didn’t just score. They stacked one hit after another until the Dodgers’ pitching couldn’t recover.
Next up, the Dodgers will send LHP Eric Lauer (2-5, 5.47 ERA) against Tampa Bay RHP Nick Martinez (6-2, 2.43) on Monday in Los Angeles. The White Sox will face Yankees RHP Gerrit Cole (1-1, 2.45) on Tuesday in New York with RHP Davis Martin (9-2, 2.41) starting.

Six-run sixth inning?? Kinda feel like the Dodgers just fell asleep.
I swear the White Sox always wait till the 6th then explode. Also Mookie Betts having a homer but still losing is so wild.
Didn’t the Dodgers win the division like already? Sounds like they choked on purpose lol. Like 6 runs off two pitchers and then it’s just over?
Montgomery, Antonacci, Meidroth… I keep mixing up who’s who but the part about Freddie Freeman and Betts hitting solo shots makes me think Chicago’s bullpen was just bad earlier and then got lucky. Also “eighth straight series at home”?? I don’t even follow series stats, but that seems like they’ve been stealing wins.
