West Ham fans under fire over Manor Solomon chant that references Israeli winger ‘hating Palestine’

West Ham supporters have come under fire over a chant for Manor Solomon that contains an anti-Palestine lyric.
The Hammers completed the signing of the Israeli international from Tottenham for a £5million fee last week, and he made his debut against Burnley on Sunday.
During the game, a section of West Ham fans could then be heard to be singing a chant for their new man.
However, the song included the line that ‘he hates Palestine’ in relation to the Israel-Gaza war that began on October 7, 2023.
And, as clips of the chant have circulated since Sunday’s match, those singing it have faced a significant backlash – including from other West Ham fans.
One account on X said: ‘Disgusting levels of ignorance from any fan to look at what’s happening & think “yeah let’s make a chant about that” I’m normally proud of our away support, this is a disgrace!’

The song could be heard from the away end at Burnley during West Ham’s 2-2 draw on Sunday
Another added: ‘Shameful,’ before a further user said: ‘The anti-Palestine chant for Manor Solomon by West Ham fans is gross and should be punished.’
One posted on online forum Reddit: ‘That Manor Solomon chant is so out of touch. It’s too far, the same group that were saying to “keep politics out of football”.
‘Appreciate he is a good player and he’s a part of the team now but some of our fans just do not get it.
‘My overall point is just don’t joke about it, its embarrassing and makes the rest of the fanbase look so bad.’
One user replied: ‘Completely agree, I thought it was disgusting seeing fans chant that. Not a thing to even joke about.’
Solomon has won 49 caps for Israel since making his debut in 2018 and he served in the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) due to his country having national service.
He has previously shared posts on his social media account which appear to demonstrate his views on the conflict.
When Solomon played for Leeds during the 2024-25 campaign, he was the subject of similar chants from a section of supporters.
At the time, Leeds issued a furious statement condemning the song, and did so again a few months later when it continued to be heard at matches.
They said: ‘Leeds United again condemn the football chant containing an anti-Palestine lyric aimed at Manor Solomon, having already done so through comment to local and national media outlets in December.
‘Hate crime and discriminatory language or chanting is not acceptable at Leeds United and the club has a zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination abuse of all kinds.
‘The club has received a large number of complaints from Leeds United supporters regarding the chant and had hoped the initial strategy of condemning it through the media and working with supporter groups, would prevent this from happening in the future, but it has sadly become more prominent in recent matches, including at Elland Road.’
They added that there would be an increased use of CCTV and more stewards to try and identify those involved in the chant and added that anyone found guilty would be at risk of a ban from Elland Road.
It was a topic discussed during a supporter advisory board meeting in January 2025, and the minutes from that summit said ‘the police do not class this chant as a hate crime’.
Solomon, who has also played for the likes of Fulham, Shakhtar Donetsk and Fiorentina, scored in Sunday’s game, but West Ham were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw.
