Tennessee’s first road game of the season might come with an added variable on Saturday night in Atlanta. The weather forecast has come into focus over the last couple of days, with rain and storms predicted to impact Atlanta all day long.
According to AccuWeather, the area has an 88 percent chance of rain during the daytime with thunderstorms possible going into the evening hours. The rain chance declines heading into the night, with a 25 percent chance remaining. The rain will cool things off quite a bit, with temperatures dropping into the low 70s. Over 90 percent humidity will remain, however.
It sounds like we’ll have a little clearer picture come Saturday morning, but the possibility of rain impacting the games remains. Storms certainly could impact warm-up procedures as well, we’ll see. And of course, if you’re getting to the game early, be aware of what’s headed your way.
If you do get rain, you have to feel like it favors Tennessee here. Colorado ran for over 180 yards against Georgia Tech last week, while Tennessee went for over 300 against Furman. It wasn’t all great for Tennessee out of the gates, but they eventually got things going. The Volunteers will also get veteran center Sam Pendleton back in the lineup from suspension, which should be a big help communication wise.
Faizon Brandon’s legs could also play a big role here. On a potential night like this, his rushing ability could turn into the difference in the game.
