Wally Lewis Instagram birthday message fans family rift

Rugby league Immortal Wally Lewis marked his second wife Lynda Adams’ 59th birthday with a warm Instagram message, but a report claims the romance has deepened a rift with his three adult children—Mitch, Lincoln and Jamie-Lee—who reportedly won’t reconcile whi

When Wally Lewis opened Instagram to wish his wife Lynda Adams a happy 59th birthday, it came with the kind of affection that normally lands quietly.

This time, it wasn’t landing well inside his family.

Lewis, 66, posted the message on the weekend: “Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife Lynda…just one year away from joining me in the 60’s club. I look forward to celebrating many more with you and perhaps it might be time for us to invest in some walking sticks soon!”

The tribute immediately became part of the story, with a report claiming his three adult children—Mitch, 40, Lincoln, 38, and Jamie-Lee, 36—are unlikely to reconcile with him and his new partner.

The tension has a backstory. Lewis married Lynda Adams last year, and his three kids were “a no-show” at the ceremony because they remained loyal to his first wife, their mother Jacqueline.

Lewis and Jacqueline separated in 2020. and he confirmed the separation publicly in February 2021. saying: “This is a deeply personal matter that we do not want to discuss publicly.” He added. “I want to acknowledge the pain and upset my family has gone through since Jacqui and I separated last year. I hope over time we can rebuild our ties and move on with life.”.

Not long after, he confirmed his relationship with Lynda.

Lewis’ courtship of Adams was reported to have begun with a proposal in late 2024—three years after he split from Jacqueline after 36 years of marriage.

A family insider speaking to Woman’s Day said the children are “zero chance” of reconciling. pointing to the closeness between the siblings and the silence that has grown. The insider claimed: “As the gap widens and the silence deepens. because Mitch. Lincoln. and Jamie-Lee are so close. they actually support one another when it comes to their feelings about their dad.”.

That same account described what the children see as an emotional betrayal—one that goes beyond the relationship itself. The insider said Lewis’ children “will never get past what their father did to their mother. ” describing Jacqueline as “the family rock” and saying they see having their father back as “the ultimate betrayal of their mum.”.

In the same report, the insider claimed the children are much happier without Lewis in their lives and said they “most certainly don’t need his new wife.”

The rift has played out in visible ways. Jamie-Lee recently posted a tribute to Jackie on Mother’s Day. writing: “You are the definition of strength. resilience and unconditional love. Watching you go through everything with so much courage, positivity, love and determination inspires me every single day. My love for you will never end.”.

Still, Lewis’ message to Lynda has drawn its own response online. Some Australians praised the Instagram tribute. including one person who wrote. “Happiest of birthdays to one of my absolute faves. ” another saying. “Beautiful. two people in love. ” and a third recalling watching Lewis and Adams together at the James Taylor concert. adding. “you could see the love right there.”.

Lewis’ relationship with Adams is also tied to a difficult health reality. The former Home and Away star, Lincoln Lewis, and his siblings were not present at their father’s wedding to Lynda at Brisbane’s St Mary’s Anglican Church.

Lewis. who is known as “The Emperor of Lang Park. ” has publicly referenced health issues including epilepsy and the brain disorder chronic traumatic encephalopathy. He has praised Lynda for her support as he deals with those challenges. telling the Howie Games podcast earlier this year: “My partner Lynda has been fantastic through it. and has been very patient.”.

For Lewis, the Instagram birthday post was a personal moment—another celebration with the woman he has chosen as his partner.

For the children at the center of the rift, the report suggests that moment may only sharpen the distance, with an insider claiming they “actually don’t need their father in their lives” and that they are unlikely to move past what they believe happened within their family.

  1. Sounds like the kids are just being bitter because they didn’t go to the wedding. Like how long are they supposed to hold that? Also “happy birthday” post is pretty normal.

  2. Wait so the kids didn’t show to the ceremony because of the first wife, but they “remain loyal”?? I thought loyalty meant like they hate the new wife or something. The article keeps saying romance and rift, but then it’s all separation timing and Instagram jokes.

  3. This is why families can’t just do things privately. If he wanted reconciliation he wouldn’t post the sweet message like it’s game over. Plus it says they won’t reconcile, but also says he hopes they can rebuild ties… so which one is it? I’m not saying I’m team anyone, but the kids probably feel replaced, and Lynda probably knew the situation. Whole thing is messy for “just” a birthday.
