The chain restaurant announced it is looking for a new location in the Boston area
The original Wahlburgers location in the Hingham Shipyard will shutter its doors Wednesday after nearly 15 years of nation- and world-wide expansion of the family-owned chain.
The company announced on social media Tuesday that the building’s lease will come to an end on Sept. 30. However, the chain is seeking a new location in the Boston area, according to the post.
“As the original Wahlburgers location, Hingham will always hold a special place in our story,” the post reads.
Executive Chef Paul Wahlberg, alongside brothers Mark and Donnie, opened the chain’s first location in Hingham in October 2011. Now, the burger chain boasts restaurants in more than a dozen states and four countries, including New Zealand and Australia, according to its website.
Outside of the Hingham location, Massachusetts boasts locations in Fenway, Springfield, Plainville, and Logan Airport.
The restaurant inspired its own A&E reality television program in 2014. “Wahlburgers” illustrated the celebrity family’s journey navigating the difficulties of expansion over 10 seasons.
When Wahlburgers opened its Dorchester location in 2018, Mark told Boston.com that “there’s something for everyone” at the restaurant.
“We got kicked out of the house until dinner time,” he said. “But then we all came together.”
Wahlburgers closed its Lynnfield location in April after a decade, as reported by MassLive.
The Hingham location, which is located at 19 Shipyard Dr., is listed as available for lease on the real-estate website Realmo. The almost-2,000-square-foot mixed-use space does not have a price listed online.
The restaurant thanked its guests, team members, and all of the Hingham community for the last 15 years.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who walked through our doors, shared a meal with us and made this restaurant part of their lives,” according to the post.
