Volkswagen Revives 2027 ID.Buzz With Camper-Ready Upgrades

2027 Volkswagen – After skipping the 2026 model year, Volkswagen has confirmed the 2027 ID.Buzz—and it’s arriving with a new Tourer 4Motion camper-focused trim, Overnight Mode features, Tesla Supercharger compatibility via a NACS adapter, and added infotainment capabilities.
Volkswagen didn’t bring the ID.Buzz back for 2026. and the pause quickly turned into a familiar question: is the electric bus actually going away?. This time, the company is answering that debate with a concrete plan.. Volkswagen has confirmed the 2027 ID.Buzz is real. and it’s coming with upgrades aimed at making the van feel less like a novelty and more like a practical. sleep-ready camper.
The biggest change is a new trim called the Tourer 4Motion.. Volkswagen says it’s inspired by Europe’s “Good Night Package,” and it leans hard into the overnight fantasy.. The setup includes a fold-out mattress on a dedicated platform. window blinds. front ventilation panels. and a stowable outdoor table and chairs.
It’s not just gear, either. Volkswagen is also adding an Overnight Mode designed to adjust lighting, climate, and power management when occupants are trying to sleep inside.
Volkswagen isn’t stopping at the camper theme. The Tourer 4Motion also adds a retractable tow hitch, second-row captain’s chairs, and an electrochromic panoramic sunroof. Drivers get 360-degree cameras and 20-inch dark graphite wheels, rounding out the package.
For people who don’t want the camper trim. Volkswagen says the rest of the 2027 ID.Buzz lineup still gets meaningful updates.. A NACS adapter will now be included in the box. bringing compatibility with Tesla Supercharger stations without having to source the adapter separately.. One pedal drive is also now standard across all trims.
Software is another major focus.. Volkswagen is bringing its updated ID.6 infotainment software to the ID.Buzz, including a redesigned navigation interface.. The feature list includes myQ Connected Garage remote access. TravelAssist with assisted lane changes. and AirConsole gaming on the infotainment screen.
On top of that, the automaker is bundling a one-year free trial of the In-Vehicle Premium subscription. That trial includes ChatGPT voice, 30,000+ radio stations, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
There are also a few details on the new model’s presentation. The 2027 ID.Buzz will be offered in just two-tone color options, including a new Candy White over Cherry Red scheme.
What’s missing from the announcement is just as noticeable as what’s included: Volkswagen has not released pricing or EPA range for the 2027 model.. The most recent figures provided for the 2025 ID.Buzz place it between $60. 000 and $70. 000. with EPA-rated range at 234 miles for the RWD version and 231 miles for the AWD version.. The company hasn’t said if those numbers will change—though expectations are that they likely won’t.
