When Film Independent and MUBI announced they were bringing “Heathers” to New York City in a one-night-only live format, it came with a promise: no damage—just a sharp, subversive night built around a celebrated script.
The previously announced live reading will be guest-directed by “Forbidden Fruits” filmmaker Meredith Alloway and is set for Tuesday. May 19. at the Directors Guild of America New York.. This performance lands under Film Independent’s ongoing Live Read series, which has delighted audiences since 2011.. The series format is billed as “reuniting high-profile actors for a fresh. unrehearsed on-stage reading of celebrated screenplays. ” turning well-known scripts into something immediate and unpredictable.
